What is your opinion on 3D animation vs. 2D animation? In the past decade, it seems that the only animation movies that have been released to the theaters have been 3D movies. I personally love 2D over 3D, to me it's just more beautiful and intricate. Although there are some amazing 3D movies, such as Wall-e, Toy Story,The Shrek series, Finding Nemo, etc. but they can't beat the classics, such as Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, the Little Mermaid, and Bambi. Even though they may be silly fairy tales to some people to me they are beautiful pieces of art. If you look closely at the scenery in 2D movies you'll see how much dedication the animation artist put into it. Even more beautiful are the Miyazaki films! My question is, has this 3D craze gone on for too long? What do you think?

I am studying 3d max now, but there are a lot of questions which i still don't have a n answer for them. First question: Is there any webpage which can teach us more about 3d animation or 3d max? Second question: What kind of softwares i need to have in my computer , if i wanna be a 3d professional? Third question: How many RAMs, what CPU, and what kind of acessories i need to install in my computer to produce a good animation? Because everytime when i render my movie, it takes days to render a 30 seconds movie. Fourth question: Everytime when i render a movie with "mental ray" effect and " Mental ray shadow map", i see an undesiderable shadow on the object. I dunno how to remove that shadow. Fifth question: When should i use " Advanced ray traced shadow "? in 3d max? Thank you very much~

Any animation movie u could suggest? hi, as an adult i also like watching "cartoons" as they are also entertaining and refreshing, are there any nice animation movies you could recommend? One of my favorites are some superhero-types like Batman and Superman (do they have list of movies?), their storyline is good enough, anything else similar? I also like 3d animations. 3d modelling/animation programs? well.. I'm making a movie.. but it requires a little bit of cgi. For the most part, i've never worked with 3d programs.. most of my movies have just used compositing and stock footage and stuff. frankly.. 3d animation scares the shit out of me.. but I really need to do one little thing really bad.. so.... what's the easiest 3d modelling/animation program around.. and where can i find some basic tutorials. (also, i'm really good at endorphin.. but i'm not sure if that makes a difference)

Do i need to change my art style to study 3d animation? I am going to study 3d animation starting next year. Since i was 10 i began drawing manga. Now i am 17 and i moved to drawing comic style (marvel/dc). The thing is, i was wondering if it is better to change my style to something more like pixar movies and that kind of stuff or to remain the realistic style of comics. Also i am lacking anatomy studies in my drawings, any recomendations?

What is best option for a computer that can render a 3D scene the fastest? Im a 3D animation student. I make (or atleast attempt) movies in 3D studio max but the problem is that the render time for even a ten second clip is like an hour! I would prefer if a proffesional animator or a computer expert can help me. right now i just use a gateway pc with a 512 memory and i think a 3.6 gHz processor. What would be my best solution wen it comes to power for rendering stuff? i kno that proffesionals usualy use like supercomputers for that stuff. thnx

Realtime input for realtime 3d animation? Hi everybody, I'm looking for a way to have a realtime 3d movie, very simple, which is able to transform several aspects (eg. dimension, color..) based on a code/script. The complexity level could be very simple: if "variable_name" = 34 then "change the color to red". Varibles could even be on an externale file, like text, xml...Does anybody have some tip for me? Is it possible to overlay a 3d Animation over a .AVI video? Me and some friends made a zombie movie, theres a part where a zombies arm is ripped off, we are trying to save on cash, so we figured we could create a "Blobmesh" blood squirting animation on 3D Studio Max and somehow over lay it over the actual video file, is there any way to do this?
