architectural renderings (3d illustrations) or game animation+ art? Which one of these two is the better, higher paid, or growing career/industry? Also, if i want to go into architectural renderings/modeling/animations can i good to college and major in animation and minor in interior design so that if i want to go into game/film animation i can have more options? Or should i just find a school that specializes in architectural renderings. By the way, i'm not planning on majoring in architecture(the non-rendering type).
Architectural Computer Renderings? Hello Everyone, I am an architecture student working with an architecture firm making 3d Digital Models of various projects. I was thinking about going out and doing a small side project to see if anyone else needs this visual aid as well. I know seeing things from a 3d perspective can give one better understanding of a building rather than just elevations. What do you think? If you were putting on an addition onto your home planning on designing a new home Renovating a large industrial building, would you pay to see what it looks like 3 dimensionally?
What are good books for learning about architectural drawing? I am really interested in drawing houses and I would like to learn more about the various techniques used in drawing architectural renderings with ink, markers, colored pencils etc. I'd also like to learn some basic information about architecture and different types of buildings and houses. What books would be helpful?

Recommendations to outsource 3D modelling, renderings? I am interested in outsourcing the production of architectural renderings. Does anyone have any recommendations as far as specific companies or resources? Also, any preference as to countries - India, China, etc?
How can I create photo-realistic renderings of floorplans? I am trying to help out a friend who wants to create photo-realistic floorplans of apartments. She is looking for something similar to this: http://www.archiform3d.com/portfolios-architectural-renderings-video-website/castlebar-3d-architectural-rendering-gallery.htm What software is used to create these renderings? Also is there a consumer-level version of the software? Another version of a 3D floorplan which is not photo-realistic but would work for her purposes is this: http://www.cranedigital.com/html/services/index.html I realize the output is in Flash, but what software was used to create the 3D effect? Thanks in advance!
What software would be best for site renderings? I'm an architectural & civil draftsman at a local engineering firm. I'm using a pc & have no access to a mac & I'm wanting to do some presentation renderings for our site work. I use sketchup & photoshop for my buildings, but need something a little nicer for site drawings. I used Autodesk Impressions but wasn't that impressed.
What kind of degree is required to do 3D Modeling and Renderings in Sketchup??? I'm currently a CAD Technician (Architectural) and it's alright but I want to get into doing renderings and 3d modeling using Sketch-Up. What kind of degree would I need to do that kind of stuff?
What are your favorite names for a graphic design firm? I am starting up a design firm where I will be doing websites, graphic design, and architectural renderings. Eventually, I plan on doing architecture work as well so I would like the name to be more generic. Thank you for your ideas, no matter how obscure.
Has anyone heard of a graphic artist named Frances McClaugh? My wife picked up 2 drawings, like architectural renderings, of buildings and scenes in Chicago by what looks like "Frances McClaugh." One is of the Symphony Center and one is of an "L" stop. We have also seen one of the Bahai Temple in Wilmette, IL by the same artist, but can't find any data about the artist on the internet. We are very curious to learn anything about her. She is/was probably from Chicago.
AUTOCAD Architectural Software for Architects? I would like to know what is the latest, most Powerful Software on the market used by Architects to do AutoCad work, i.e. renderings of say a Commercial Building or Hotel etc. My friend who's an IT guy told me he had one that costs like $15K said it would take a long time to learn etc. I would like to know the very best AutoCad Software out there so we can produce cool Architectural 3D renderings for Commercial Real Estate projects. For that reason, I am interested in The Best, Most Powerful software regardless of price. I don't want a cheap version, just THE BEST professional version, used by the TOP architectural firms or 3D professionals out there. Thanks!! :)
Can anyone direct me to a website that I can use to host large .pdf and graphic files (20+ MB each) for free? or very cheap? These are color architectural renderings and I need to be able to show them to clients.
Best architectural drawing software/s for Mac? I recently bought a macbook pro and I now need to get a few software before school starts. First thing is that I need photo-realistic renderings of architectural spaces. Also, I need to switch between 2d drawings and 3d renderings frequently. I have Archicad but the renderings are not nearly good enough, also I have Autocad 2011 for Mac (educational) and the renderings are horrible. I want a software where I can get a drawing completely finished and then the software can show me the sections, elevations and floor plans. Also I need a software that can read those drawings and then create a 3d rendering. So I need two programs to help me with my drawings. Am I asking for too much?
How to start advertising and Graphic design business? How to start Advertising Agency and Graphic design business? Also what best can a small business do in Multimedia, Animation and Film making? Salary of Architectural Illustrators? I need help fast! Does anyone have any knowledge of how much an architectural illustrator makes? What is the annual salary? I have been an architectural intern for 2 years. Lost my job due to economy but then a small company (who specialize in construction fixtures) want me to do a couple of renderings for them. I'm not sure what the salary range is. Can anyone help?
I have a full sketch book, 3D renderings & CAD drawings of furniture designs, how do I align myself w/ a buyer I am an experienced architectural designer (commercial, educational, industrial...). The realm of furniture design is a release for me at the end of the day. In turn, I have compiled a full sketchbook, 3D renderings of my favorite collections, and CAD drawings. How do I market these designs? Find a "friend of a friend" who is interested and hope they have wealthy friends. This would be a start, but I am looking for a "durable competitive advantage" over another "Joe" in the same boat as me. Should I, if possible, sell the entire collection? Or am I way off, and is there another direction I should be considering? I've toured production facilities, continue to research products/material, and complete designs frequently. I am a designer not a marketing major. How should I align myself with this network? I'm interested in capitalizing on these designs, how do I connect the dots?
If I have the money to spend? should I buy a high end MAC or a really good PC, like one from Alienware or something? I'll be using it for playing a few games, photo and video editing and some 3D Architectural renderings.

Does anyone know a good place to find tips on using tablets? Also, some tips on Architecture portfolios? I am a student who has attended Architectural School for two years. I changed majors to Civil Engineering, but I still want to be an architect. I aspire to go to grad school at a school like Cornell, MIT, Pratt, Columbia, Sci-Arc or Harvard. I've been desperately trying to keep with it. I already have some work in my portfolio (some models to add to it, visual exercises:3D and 2D(like Figure Ground), some drawings, and some digital renderings)), but I'm struggling some keeping my strength, and realizing that keeping up on my own is much harder than I thought. Also, I am trying to land an internship with an Architecture firm. Any suggestions would help. Thanks.

Career advice in art/architecture? Currently, I am an 18 year old North Carolina college student. I was wondering if anyone out there might be able to help me with sorting out a career path. You see, I am caught between two choices, and am not quite sure which I should/could pursue. My two interests are art and architecture (more specifically on the later, architectural history and preservation). I am currently self-employed as an artist. I deal primarily with pen and ink media, and do mainly architectural renderings and drafts, as well as illustrations (several examples are attached here). I am self-taught, and am always trying to improve my talent with the personal study of Victorian engraving practices. I have been in several local shows and maintain a steady amount of private commissions. While I love to draw (buildings mostly, as the examples show, but other forms as well), and consider myself to be fairly artistically inclined, I also enjoy architecture on a material scale. I have always been fascinated with historic preservation (you could almost call it an obsession), and would thoroughly enjoy a career in the field. Therein lies my problem. Do I lean towards the art or the architecture? I've been told I by people in both areas I could do either, but I'm still not certain. While I love architecture, I despise math. I also dispise modern design, so going to school as an architect or draftsman seems unwise. I have been told there are thousands of professions within the umbrella of preservation, but I know little about them. If there is anyone with knowledge of the field, I would greatly appreciate your imput. If there is any way I could go into a profession in preservation in which I can use my art, I would be more than interested in finding out more about it. Here are some examples of my artwork: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3647/3460108682_aa60381da4_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3230/3086240916_99de251c74_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3535/3228711583_dbfe8a7f67_b.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3163/3085408239_463027c4fa_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3132/3086884537_ce814b42fb_o.jpg

I Need Architectural Rendering Done ASAP. What is the Least Expensive Method to Obtain a Rendering? I need a rendering of a planned new building structure for business plan and presentation purposes only. How can I obtain this and how fast can i get something done and at what cost? I am aware there is software at universities students use that can model out interiors of planned building although nothing is to spec. Does there exists software also for doing renderings of the exterior of a building as well? Where would i find this type of service online or hear in Chicago, IL? Please advise, thanks.
Where can I find Architectural design plans for Taiwanese houses? I recently started going back to school part time, trying to finish my architecture degree, and when my professor found out that I lived in Taiwan he gave me an assignment to design a full set of design plans and 3D renderings for various angles of the buildings interior and exterior. Even though I live in Taiwan I never actually paid much attention to the design of the buildings around me. So I am hoping some one can tell me where I can find blue prints, models, floor plans, anything like this that would help me to complete my assignment. I am not looking for anything fancy like Taipei 101 or the gigantic fancy houses suburbs of Taipei (mostly because they are too complex), rather I am looking for something like the normal 3-5 story houses, or even the traditional Chinese or Fukien style country homes. Anything that represents the houses that you see in Taiwan. Here are a few examples of the types of buildings that I am talking about. These are houses in Tainan in the An'Ping ~ (http://community.webshots.com/photo/fullsize/2145677290078206077oNRbQB) This is a blinding of traditional and modern Taiwanese housing in Tainan County (http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2165/2197244026_4a8be8a419.jpg) This a traditional style Taiwanese house I don't think that it is a Fujian style but still in the ball park~ (http://community.webshots.com/photo/fullsize/1220262605049765968GposVB) This a modern style house in Taipei ~ (http://www.culture.gov.tw/d_upload_tca_pro/cms/image/A0/B0/C0/D0/E0/F997/283d1bc3-0bd8-4507-b4cd-c056b596e5ef.jpg) This is a typical house in Taichung (http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3458/3870620876_909f00ffd6_o.jpg) If anyone has any sort of useful information about this your help will be very appreciated. Thank you

What do you think of this picture I'm drawing? http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3535/3228711583_dbfe8a7f67_b.jpg Normally I do architectural drawings (renderings, drafts, elevations, etc) but I've recently begun experimenting with people. I'm not really going for realistic- that's what a camera's for. most of the style is based on personal study of Victorian engravings (but don't worry, I didn't copy or trace anything). It's not finished, by any means, and it's really just for my own enjoyment. P.S. Sorry for the quality of the online image- The actual picture is fairly large, and it's hard to shrink it down without blurring the lines a bit. Also note that the top and left sides have been cut off partially.
what type of company is it? I'm adding a some of services to our company, but I don't know how to categorize it, so people can understand what we do in few words. we do -Architectural design (retail, residential, 3d renderings, animations, interior design etc) -Multimedia presentations (websites, DVD, graphic design etc) -Professional Photography and video. How would you call or categorize this company or services?
Question about AutoCad & More.? whats the difference between CADD, CAD, and AutoCad? Whats the difference between Drafts and Drawings, and Renderings? What does an Architectural Drafter do? What do you need to study to create realistic 3D images of a planned project?
Please English speakers! is this well written? I though of this when I was there, but them I began working in offices here and didn’t found the time to set up this service. A month ago I opened a company of several architectural services. The services I have developed are images of Hype realistic Architectural Renders. They are very good. I will like you to check these examples posted in this link http://www.codeurbano.com/codearte-imagenes3d.html. Whenever you need this service, we produce 1 image a day with the chance of 2-3 corrections. An average price per image is 135$ for interior renderings as an example. I also have an American phone number, so it won’t cost that much calling me if you need to talk to us. This number is with the internet Magic Jack.
which 3d Computer aided design software is right for me? ok soooo im new to this stuff, because ive been doing it on paper for like 6 years. soo what i want to do with the software is he able to make 3d renderings of houses, furniture, engines, cars, airplanes, and various other objects, but without spending like $5,000. also something ive been looking for is a software that will allow me to move pieces of the object such as pull out a draw from a desk, or compress the suspension of a rc car. i am currently in the military, but i am aspiring to become a industrial/architectural/mechanical engineer so i would like to start building a portfolio/practicing. what should i do?
CPU performance during 3d model rendering? i use kerkythea and revit to create 3d models of buildings and render architectural perspective images of buildings and interiors. whenever i render, i set them to use all 4 cores of my CPU (to speed up the rendering process) so the CPU usage in the task manager is expected to shoot up to 100% as soon as i start rendering my question is... if this 100% CPU usage is prolonged for hours and hours (because some renderings i do may take up to 5 hours) will this damage or wear out my CPU? what component of the PC specifically? and is it ok to continue with minor multitasking work (ex. microsoft word or internet browsing) even if the CPU usage is already at 100%? thanks in advance! note: PC specs -Processor Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q8400 @ 2.66GHz -Memory (RAM) 2.00 GB -Graphics NVIDIA GeForce 9400 GT -Primary hard disk 138GB Free (176GB Total) -OS Windows7 Ultimate
my strength and career focus, is everyone right, I'm wrong? I'm working in an architectural firm 2 yrs after getting my master degree. I like architecture and always wanted to be a good designer. but I'm not from the States, of course I can't compete with native speakers in terms of language and understanding subtle meanings or interact with client. but i'm good at design and I draw well. my technical skill is not good because my company always let me do renderings and pretty dwgs instead of tech dwgs. I talked to them but they didn't really trust that I can learn fast.they think I should focus on drawing instead of technical stuff. but in order to become a good designer, I need to learn tech stuff. now I'm starting to doubt about it, sure it's not my strength, should I just focus on my drawing skills and become a good renderer (who makes a lot of money too)? or should I try working on my tech skills and hope one day I'll become a good designer? I know changing job will work better but it's not an option for today's economy.
