I have a full sketch book, 3D renderings & CAD drawings of furniture designs, how do I align myself w/ a buyer I am an experienced architectural designer (commercial, educational, industrial...). The realm of furniture design is a release for me at the end of the day. In turn, I have compiled a full sketchbook, 3D renderings of my favorite collections, and CAD drawings. How do I market these designs? Find a "friend of a friend" who is interested and hope they have wealthy friends. This would be a start, but I am looking for a "durable competitive advantage" over another "Joe" in the same boat as me. Should I, if possible, sell the entire collection? Or am I way off, and is there another direction I should be considering? I've toured production facilities, continue to research products/material, and complete designs frequently. I am a designer not a marketing major. How should I align myself with this network? I'm interested in capitalizing on these designs, how do I connect the dots?
Recommendations to outsource 3D modelling, renderings? I am interested in outsourcing the production of architectural renderings. Does anyone have any recommendations as far as specific companies or resources? Also, any preference as to countries - India, China, etc?
architectural renderings (3d illustrations) or game animation+ art? Which one of these two is the better, higher paid, or growing career/industry? Also, if i want to go into architectural renderings/modeling/animations can i good to college and major in animation and minor in interior design so that if i want to go into game/film animation i can have more options? Or should i just find a school that specializes in architectural renderings. By the way, i'm not planning on majoring in architecture(the non-rendering type).

What computer specs do you recommend for AutoCAD 2010? I am currently a student and I know the basics about pc systems. I will be doing simple 2D drawings and 3D renderings. I dont want to know the manufacturers requirements. I'd like to know what kind of processor and graphics card would run CAD smoothly, and for a long time, along with everyday internet use. I was thinking i3 or i5 or some type of duo core, 2.5 GHz and up. Thank you for answering my question. Happy Holidays.
Good 3D rendering programs? Hi, I wanted a program to create a 3D image (preferably with the ability to spin it around to view the different parts, like in the basic program of Google Sketch-up) I always have several things I would like to create, but currently I want to create a 3D rendering of the floating island in a story my friend and I are writing. I want to be able to create all the details, textures, and everything. The island is made up of many floating islands clustered together, and generally are very detailed with the mountains, foliage, water, buildings, animals and such. So I want a very manipulative program, where I can create completely my own features. I also wanted to make 3D renderings of my characters, of the made up animal species, and much more. Does anyone know a good program with no limitations on the designs? No limitations as in, I generally have extremely bizarre designs and will need to be able to tailor to those designs. I will gladly take several kinds of program suggestions for my different requests, like if I can get a program that will be able to do land creation, while another program might be better at people and animals, or whatever. I'm free for any suggestions! Thanks in advance!
which 3d Computer aided design software is right for me? ok soooo im new to this stuff, because ive been doing it on paper for like 6 years. soo what i want to do with the software is he able to make 3d renderings of houses, furniture, engines, cars, airplanes, and various other objects, but without spending like $5,000. also something ive been looking for is a software that will allow me to move pieces of the object such as pull out a draw from a desk, or compress the suspension of a rc car. i am currently in the military, but i am aspiring to become a industrial/architectural/mechanical engineer so i would like to start building a portfolio/practicing. what should i do?
Architectural Computer Renderings? Hello Everyone, I am an architecture student working with an architecture firm making 3d Digital Models of various projects. I was thinking about going out and doing a small side project to see if anyone else needs this visual aid as well. I know seeing things from a 3d perspective can give one better understanding of a building rather than just elevations. What do you think? If you were putting on an addition onto your home planning on designing a new home Renovating a large industrial building, would you pay to see what it looks like 3 dimensionally?
Is there any way to boost the video card performance of the new MacBook, besides more RAM? Or is it ok for 3d? I can't afford the MacBook Pro and need something that can handle basic 3D renderings and maybe WoW sometimes but I am fed up with Windows and Linux is too complicated and not compatable with my software setup for work.
What is the best specification of a PC desktop intended to be used for heavy graphics & renderings?? As an Architect, we are hands-on on a lot of design presentations. This involves 3d studio and similar, Photoshop, InDesign, Sketch-up, etc.

Help with creating 3D landscape? I was thinking of getting into software design/renderings, so I could generate 3D "worlds". I wanted to experiment with outdoor cells or whatever, similar to Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (But not nearly as detailed!). But it's a poor example; I was thinking something more along the lines of the environments in Cabella's hunting safari-style software, since that's almost exactly what I want to do (sans hunting). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

A program less complicated than 3D Studio Max ? Is there a program less complicated than 3D Studio Max that has a shorter learning curve but still produces great renderings. I'm thinking more 'computer art' than making 3D animation Thanks
What should I study in school? I just graduated from a community college with an Associates Degree in Architecture. Im not sure I want to be an Architect, so I was wondering what other fields I could go into with this title. I enjoy doing 2D and 3D renderings and working with photoshop, so what kind of bachelors degree would be suitable for me?
What software does the architect on HGTV's "Hidden Potential" use to showcase their design ideas? A 2007-06-27 job posting on NYASLA's web site suggests it's AutoCAD (see below), but previous Answers have suggested Maya. Have they changed recently? Are those the same package under two different names? From the listing: "HGTV’s Hidden Potential is looking for talented, motivated Jr. Architects and Designers AutoCAD operators to join our Design Team. This is a unique opportunity to work alongside our on camera architect and designer in helping them achieve their visions. We design a high volume of residences and at the end of the job, a Jr. Architect will walk away with amazing 3D animations and still renderings of their design work. It is a fun, fast-paced design environment." "The ideal candidate has an eye for design – structural and interior – is proficient in AutoCAD, and is able to contribute to the creative design process on a daily basis. One must be computer savvy as our design team continually uses various software tools and FTP sites..."
Why do laptops with similar specs perform differently? I have an older sony laptop that performs a lot better than a newer hp laptop with a higher processor speed and more RAM. We both use our laptops for 3D modeling, CAD, and renderings.

Best Laptop for 3D Modeling (2011)? I'm planning to buy a laptop that could handle all the 3d modeling, animating, and renderings I do without restricting my mobility. I use programs like C4D, Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Flash, and similar other programs. My budget's around $2000 and I do not like Macs. No size or weight limit. I'm currently leaning towards the Toshiba Qosmio for no reason other than my friend has it and his 3d games seem to run smoothly, display looks great, and the audio is clear and loud. Obviously, laptop hardware isn't something I know very well so I'm not one to piece together laptop parts to fit my needs. I need advice on which particular brand and model I should be looking for to go about my work. Desktops aren't an option - I like being mobile. Thanks in advance!
Do I need two graphics card? If so, how do I install one? How would you call or categorize this company or services?
What are some c.a.d. Drafting software I can buy for a reasonable price. (read more)? basically I want a program that I can do 3d renderings of house plans and interior layouts. Does anyone know a good place to find tips on using tablets? Also, some tips on Architecture portfolios? I am a student who has attended Architectural School for two years. I changed majors to Civil Engineering, but I still want to be an architect. I aspire to go to grad school at a school like Cornell, MIT, Pratt, Columbia, Sci-Arc or Harvard. I've been desperately trying to keep with it. I already have some work in my portfolio (some models to add to it, visual exercises:3D and 2D(like Figure Ground), some drawings, and some digital renderings)), but I'm struggling some keeping my strength, and realizing that keeping up on my own is much harder than I thought. Also, I am trying to land an internship with an Architecture firm. Any suggestions would help. Thanks.
Are there any venture capatlists or angel investors out there? I have a great business plan, need a partner!! Have developed numerous products. One existing product is a college product (The Beer Pong Constitution). We have developed a patented product and retail package and are now looking for a partner and/or a distributor to get this new product nationwide quickly. I have a business plan and a very detailed packet of information on our new products. I also have prototypes and 3d renderings of all of our products. Looking for someone to work with us, someone who enjoys the college market. Our company name is: The Founding Collegians, LLC. Hopefully we get some responses!!
Thinking about buying a macbook? I intend to buy myself a macbook and i would like an opinion about the models. I intend to upgrade to 4GB RAM and use the computer primarily for 3D animation renderings and web surfing. 1) The entry level (white plastic shell) is basically the same as the lower end aluminum body. The only difference is the DDR3 RAM on the aluminum vs DDR2 on the plastic. How much of a speed difference would this be? 2) What would be the difference in speed between the 2.0 GHZ processor and the 2.4?
If I have the money to spend? should I buy a high end MAC or a really good PC, like one from Alienware or something? I'll be using it for playing a few games, photo and video editing and some 3D Architectural renderings.
Which 3D (3ds max, Maya, Form Z, Vizmax, Sketch Up, Rhino) is more useful in interior design? I use Autocad now but these 3d softwares add more effects to my subjects. I have only seen 3ds Max and Maya in bookstores' manuals and the rest I only hear from other designers. Which one is for of the "all-around" and flexible? Or at least I have to learn first.. I know there are differences in renderings and animation between Maya and Max - as I browsed through the net, but the rest, I can't find much where people talk about them.. What are they?
CPU performance during 3d model rendering? i use kerkythea and revit to create 3d models of buildings and render architectural perspective images of buildings and interiors. whenever i render, i set them to use all 4 cores of my CPU (to speed up the rendering process) so the CPU usage in the task manager is expected to shoot up to 100% as soon as i start rendering my question is... if this 100% CPU usage is prolonged for hours and hours (because some renderings i do may take up to 5 hours) will this damage or wear out my CPU? what component of the PC specifically? and is it ok to continue with minor multitasking work (ex. microsoft word or internet browsing) even if the CPU usage is already at 100%? thanks in advance! note: PC specs -Processor Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q8400 @ 2.66GHz -Memory (RAM) 2.00 GB -Graphics NVIDIA GeForce 9400 GT -Primary hard disk 138GB Free (176GB Total) -OS Windows7 Ultimate
What to look for in a laptop for 3d modeling/rendering? I am currently a freshman majoring in architecture. I have making renderings all through high school and for an architect that I work for and now that I have been doing 3d modeling on my own laptop I am wondering what to look for in a new laptop so that the programs don't slow up so much. I have an HP Pavilion DV7-1175nr, it has 4gb of RAM and is generally very quick but as soon as I have several drawings open the computer slows up. I'll be getting a new laptop this summer (around $1000) and I'm just looking for recommendations. After some research I will be getting 8GB of RAM, but i don't know what else to look for. Thanks, Alex
question for people who can do realistic 3d renderings.? i am already proficient in autocad 2d and i think it would not be difficult to master autcad 3d, i tryed 3d max, but it has a very tough learning curve, it would take me ages to get somethign out of it. what software can i use to do very realistic renderings without needing a complete year to learn the software. i have heard you can use revit and then use v ray, other have told me that just autocad 3d and v -ray. is that true<? what do you suggest?
AUTOCAD Architectural Software for Architects? I would like to know what is the latest, most Powerful Software on the market used by Architects to do AutoCad work, i.e. renderings of say a Commercial Building or Hotel etc. My friend who's an IT guy told me he had one that costs like $15K said it would take a long time to learn etc. I would like to know the very best AutoCad Software out there so we can produce cool Architectural 3D renderings for Commercial Real Estate projects. For that reason, I am interested in The Best, Most Powerful software regardless of price. I don't want a cheap version, just THE BEST professional version, used by the TOP architectural firms or 3D professionals out there. Thanks!! :)

I need to render building interiors including furniture.? I need impressive photorealistic renderings, and the furniture will be based off standard catalogues/blocks. It is preferable that the blocks can be parametric, and have not been created yet. The process I need it for is the following: -import general wall/electrical/plumbing layout as 2d dwg/dxf -convert layout to 3D -place furniture, built-ins, dimensions, hatching, notations, dwg block, revision info -export as engineering drawings -export as 3D renderings I'm experienced with AutoCad and am looking for a solution that is easier than doing extrusions/drawing faces and applying materials (my last version is 2008) which is very time consuming and frustrating. Yet other software that is available is expensive and does not provide the professionalism that I'm looking for. I'm open to using open-source software, but I need advice on which software to use.

Can I make a program on vista use more memory? I have windows ultimate 64 bit. I have a 64 bit program. I do 3d renderings, so I have 8gigs of ram (that vista recognizes) and I expect that while rendering, the 3d program would use more ram. The program only uses about 2 gigs when it crashes (I know it's 2 gigs because I have a gadget that shows memory usage). So is there a way to tell vista "GIVE THAT PROGRAM MORE MEMORY!" Or is vista that stingy?
Where can I find Architectural design plans for Taiwanese houses? I recently started going back to school part time, trying to finish my architecture degree, and when my professor found out that I lived in Taiwan he gave me an assignment to design a full set of design plans and 3D renderings for various angles of the buildings interior and exterior. Even though I live in Taiwan I never actually paid much attention to the design of the buildings around me. So I am hoping some one can tell me where I can find blue prints, models, floor plans, anything like this that would help me to complete my assignment. I am not looking for anything fancy like Taipei 101 or the gigantic fancy houses suburbs of Taipei (mostly because they are too complex), rather I am looking for something like the normal 3-5 story houses, or even the traditional Chinese or Fukien style country homes. Which is the most suitable CAD program? I'm looking for a free/open source CAD program. I'm an inventor and often want to sketch out an idea before I have any idea of dimensions, so I want to be able to add dimensions later and have the CAD system scale the drawing to fit the later dimensions. It needs to be able to create excellent line drawings, 2D and 3D renderings from any angle. Ray tracing would be nice too. I know of the existence of FreeCAD (the one by Juergen Riegel), and BRL-CAD, but have no idea whether either are suitable for my needs.
Under aged cartoon smut illegal? I run an adult art site and receive submission from members to be showcased. What are the current laws against under aged cartoon smut. For example; Lisa Simpson, chipmunk, digi-mon adult rated images, or 3D renderings. Last I heard: ( Department of Justice 28 CFR Part 75 Revised Regulations for Records Relating to Visual Depictions of Sexually Explicit Conduct; Inspection of Records Relating to Depiction of Simulated Sexually Explicit Performance {2008}) These images violated no laws since no human minors were exploited, harmed, etc. No matter what your opinions of this material maybe actual law will determine the rule of the site. Sited info would be greatly appreciated.

Notebook for Italy.? Hi! I live in Italy, my sister is now in the USA and she wants to take a notebook there for me. I will use it for drawings and renderings (2d and 3d), but I don't want to spend too much money (1.500 $). I think that I need 2,1 GHz or more; 3 GB or 4GB; 15,4" or 17"... Do anyone know what notebook is right for me? Thanks and sorry for my English...
Laptop for Graphic Work? I'm going to be in the market for a laptop soon, and I'm wondering if I could get some experiential advice on Toshiba. I've heard nothing but good things about their laptops and I'm very seriously considering one. Specifically the Qosmio® : G50 : G55-Q804. Now what I'd be using it for is graphic work but nothing as intense as 3D or any such renderings; I use Adobe CS3's Dreamweaver, Illustrator, Photoshop, Flash and a few others. Usually simultaneously. This is why I'm itching to get something with at LEAST 2 gigs of RAM and I'm hoping for a graphics card that can handle some games when I'm bored :) I have an ATI Radeon 3650 in my pc, but I really want to stay away from ATI this time around... thinking NVIDIA probably. Anyway... I just need something that can handle multiple application usage and with a big enough screen that doing my work will be a treat. Another biggy is esthetics... I am a woman and I have to admit I am a big fan of sleek, sexy laptops leaning more towards blacks and reds and metals. I hate those big clunky ugly man-notebooks that Acer makes and stuff (haha no offense if you like Acers!) Anyway... any advice would be great. Thanks! oh and I'm looking to spend around $1500 ish.
legality of animated porn? While recently researching software designed to create animation like “POSER” or “DAZ” I searched 3D models, what I found inter-mixed in the results were several porn sites dedicated to the creation of animated porn using the creation of life like renderings of people engaged in sexual activity’s. At first I was amazed at the artistry of the graphic artist and the capability of the state art software., but soon found some very disturbing images created obviously to appeal to the fantasies of pedophiles. Child like renderings engaged in sexual situations with adult renderings in a storybook fashion and occasionally mpeg type format. Anatomically the graphics were very realistic. While I realize that no living child is being exploited, I still wonder of the legality of portraying these types of situations in such a life like manner. octaviakraut: an interesting observation, I wonder if making this type of material available will tend to spurn interests in weak minded individuals whom may want to cross that threshold between fantise and reality? If I were a graphics artist it would turn my stomach being asked to render these types of images for my paycheck.
Graphics card/virus is freezing up my computer? Lately I have been having issues with my computer freezing up at random intervals. Recently I have figured out that this only happens when my graphics card tries to build some 3/d image (like a video game, Google earth, solid works renderings, etc). These problems have started just after my Norton anti virus expired. It was expired for about a month before I found AVAST and I downloaded it. It fixed a few issues but It still freezes up whenever I try to load up anything 3D. I think It is a virus, but I really have no idea why it is shutting off/freezing. I have a ATI all in wonder 9600xt graphics card and I have a Microsoft Windows xp Professional. I have NEVER had this problem before and It used to run perfectly.

How much do you charge for architectural 3d renderings using 3d max/ viz? I I do residential renderings- very realistic. A lot of foliage and details. I'm just not sure how much I should be charging, say, for a 3000 sf home. Not very many local residential architects do the renderings in-house, and when they do, they typically charge $1000-3000, whereas I was only charging $300-500 and I am not established.
