3d Sound Listener Knowledge Base
want to make a scene with 3D sound. any ideas (more details provided).? hi. I've got a kind of presentation where I'll be discussing "the sound in 3D". I'd like to make a "scene" where I illustrate the 3D effect of sound. this means that the listener will hear sound coming from different corners and he'll be able to identify the source of each sound. I have no technical problems with that. but the problem is that I don't know what the scene will be. should it be something in nature with water and birds sounds, or maybe film myslef (and my partner) and make a special montage, or or or...... I really need somthing special that will be interesting to watch. any ideas will be highly appreciated thanks Hey Vince M ! thanks, this wa really helpful. to say the truth, I already thought of those ideas, and I even thought of the idea of making a battlefield presentation with sounds of bombs and stuff. But do you think we can produce anything even more special, I means something that will guarantee the full mark? hehe. Anyway, you'll certainly be chosent as the best answer, but please don't hesitate add details or contact me about any really special idea we can do. thanks!
Explain the effect of 3D audio from stereo headphones? Dolby 5.1 sound can be heard through standard stereo headphones. The mind can perceive the sound in all directions around the listener's head. How is this 3D audio perception acheived with only two channel audio? And only two speakers? Maybe I just don't understand stereo audio well enough. Here's a link for an example: http://www.holophonic.ch/archivio/testaudio/Cereni%20-%20Holophonic.mp3
Best Heaphones for Rap Music? I'm a big fan of hip hop music, yet for the last year I've been listening to it through the apple headphones that came with my iPod. I recently got a job, and have decided to invest $300-$400 in a good set of headphones. I want to know which ones are the best. The two main models I'm looking at are the Bose Quietcomfort 3's and Beats by Dr. Dre. There tends to be a split on electronic forums between supporters of both. The QC's got a higher score on cnet, but since the Beats are by rap artist Dr. Dre, I thought they might be better for an exclusive hip-hop listener. A lot of the time people recommend obscure online brands that are supposed to be cheap and better (for instance a pair by Denon and a pair by Sennheiser are often reccomended). Unfortunetly, I cannot buy items on the internet, and I live in Canada so retail stores have limited brand options. On a side note, I am a psychonaut who experienments with combiations of hallucinogenic substances (marijuana, magic mushrooms, etc.) and music. Hence, I'm also looking for a pair of headphones that provide somewhat '3D' sound. Thanks.
