Connecting Panasonic 3D TV to older surround sound speakers? I have this model: TC-P50VT25 of HD 3D TV, and I want to connect audio from the TV to an older Sony 5-disc changer that only has AV components for input. The only output I can find for the TV is a digital audio output, which I don't have as an input for the receiver. I'm assuming I need a converter for digital to AV jacks... which seems to me like I'll be losing sound quality. So assuming I don't buy a new receiver with HDMI posts and route everything through it, am I better off buying the converter and getting surround sound or just sticking with the Sony TV's internal speakers?

Why do I "Hear" 3D Sound (In The correct locations) While I play PC games without Speakers? About a year ago I noticed that If I woke up first thing in the morning and played some video games with NO Speakers/Headphones (Anything of that sort, theres no sound output, not even an internal beep code speaker), That I could hear 3D positional Sounds coming from the game... as if i had headphones on. For example I would play Warcraft 3/Starcraft2 and I would hear units talking if i clicked on them, the "Our base is under attack" and 3D sounds (if i scrolled off my units that were fighting i would hear them fight/ Things dieing. Im wondering if this was simply a Hallucination of sorts? I doubt it was simply because everything was almost Perfectly accurate (Once in a while it would be off) But it seemed as if I could hear Everything. I would prefer a Physical/Psychology Possible Answer. Rather then the all 2 obvious "you play too many video games" Please and Thanks .

Why is it important to use HDMI 1.4 cables for a 3D TV & surround sound system receiver? Overview: I am going to set up a entertainment area at home. I currently have the new Xbox 360 "Slim" and the Sony PS3 Slim. For a tv I was going to buy the Samsung UN46C8000 3D LED/LCD HDTV. I found it for $1,500 so i figure thats a good deal. In doing my research I found that, while it is not 100% needed, using HDMI 1.4 cables and an HDMI 1.4 receiver optimizes the picture quality and audio of 3D. I know 3D is a new tech and still has some basic issues but, from what I have read about the Samsung tv, they released a firmware that corrects many of the ghosting and cross over issues with the 3D image. Anyways, my set up would be the Samsung TV, Xbox 360, PS3 (blu-ray), HDMI compatible cable box, and Surround Sound system / receiver (1.4 compliant). All of these devices would be plugged into a Digicom 6900J power conditioner / surger protector. All HDMI cables would be 1.4 rated, I am thinking of the Monster M2000 series cables, I found a site that has them for 12 dollars. Anyways now to the main questions...what surround sound system is in the $600 range that has speakers and a receiver all of decent quality, that is also compliant with HDMI 1.4 input and outputs and converts to HDMI 1.4 ? (i.e. if the PS3 was playing a blu-ray 3d movie (still waiting that update) I can plug that into the receiver and it can then the receiver output will go to the tv, I am not trying to put an optic in the ps3 which will connect to the receiver and then an hdmi directly to the tv, I am trying to get everything centralized to a receiver that comes in a surround sound system, thus I read the best way to do that is to have an HDMI 1.4 receiver and cables that can handle the conversion and transfer of audio and 3d quality) My main goal is to have my XBOX, PS3, and Cablebox all have M2000 cables going into the receiver of the surround sound system, then have a cable going from (hdmi 1.4 output) the receiver to the TV. Of course the speakers would be set up to the receiver as well. Is this set up doable? More importantly, is the needed? Or am I just a victim of drinking the 3D hype kool aid? If so, how do you recommend me set up these devices? PLEASE KEEP IN MIND I AM DEAD SET ON GETTING THE SAMSUNG UN46C8000. (i know the Pannasonic VT25 (among other tvs) are nicer in terms of PQ and 3D but I can only afford the samsung bc of the discount I am getting on it aka I am trying to get the most bang for my buck for a 3d LED.LCD tv) Sorry for the longwinded question and explanations, just thought I would let you know where my mind is at on this. Thanks for any and all help!

how can i get my spekers to produce sound if i have checked all wiring and have found this to all to be right? I have connected all wires to speakers and to the pc and made sure that the wires were tight and correct. But, when i try to listen to the speckers then there is no sound. I am also positive that there is correct voltage to the speakers. My speakers ID or possible model is SP-689/Multimedia Speaker. Note: these speckers are 3D provided speakers just in case you might need to know that.
Connecting PS3 with Sony 3D TV and Bose T20 Surround Sound? Okay....I have been trying to figure this out for a while and I cannot figure out what we need to do to get this right. We currently just bought a Sony Bravia 55HX800, which is 3D compatible and the Bose T20 surround sound system. The problem we have is trying to connect our playstation 3 to our T20 system. I had the playstation hooked up via the HDMI cable to the T20 receiver, but Call of Duty, which is 3D compatible, would not even work. Nothing would show on the TV and there would be no sound. I researched as much as I could and I am realizing that this Bose T20 system is not 3D compatible. So, to work around this, we ran the HDMI cable from the PS3 to the TV for video and used the component AV cables for audio to the T20 receiver. This finally worked with being able to use the call of duty game and any 3D video, but now the sound is not so great. Our back speakers are not working and sometimes the sound isn't coming out of are front speakers. We have gone in to the PS3 settings and the TV settings, even the Bose settings. Still can't seem to get this to work right. I am hoping someone can help us figure this out??? I wish Bose would just get with the times and update their systems to be 3D compatible. Thanks in advance!

Internal Speaker Issue/Sound Card Issue? I have a Toshiba laptop M45-S265 (part of the Satellite series). I took my computer in to Circuit City to have a laptop fan replaced. When I got my computer back, I noticed that the volume knob was actually INSIDE the computer. Circuit City was able to fix this problem but now I have sound only out of one speaker. They checked and could not find anything wrong with the wiring or sound options on my computer. I have since bought an external sound card (Turtle Beach). It worked wonders for months, but it started to go bad recently (the sound starting crackling and skipping like a CD when I tried to listen to a MP3 file or movie). I bought a new 3D Sound external audio card, and I can only hear out of one speaker on my headphones. I was wondering why my Turtle Beach sound card never had this problem. Is it because the new sound card connects directly to the motherboard? If so, I think this is the reason for my internal speaker problems. I know for a fact that it isn't my headphones. With the new sound card, the sound is not "skipping" or having an static. I'm just having the same problem with the sound card (can only hear through on speaker) that I'm having when using my laptop speakers. Both sound cards are USB plug-ins. I should add that at first Circuit City was unable to get any sound at all. They managed to fix one speaker. I might just buy a new Turtle Beach sound card. With my headphones plugged in, everything was fine. With the new USB sound card, I'm having the same problems I was when using my laptop speakers. I thought all USB external sound cards worked the same.
Is there any software or plugin to increase video and audio quality in computer? I have Sound blaster 5.1 sound card and Altec lancing 5.1 speakers. For video, I have one nvidia geforce 8800GTS and one LG 19" LCD (1280*1024). Is there any software, player or plugin which will increase the playback quality of songs and movies? I heard that if a movie or song is not encoded in 3D sound, it won't give 3d sound if you have 5.1 sound card and speakers. Is there any video which can play movies or audio in 3D no matter it is encoded or not? Or is there any encoder which can recode the movie or song in 3d (which was not 3D earlier) Any software which can increase the quality will be helpful. Please tell. If you know any software which just enhances the quality, but do not gives 3D, still it will do. If you know a software which gives 3D, it will be better.
Am I getting full surround sound? I have a speaker set (5.1), but it doesnt say Dolby anywhere on the speakers Does this mean it doesnt have a dolby decoder? It has 6 audio jacks in the back for connecting up to a DVD player, but i dont have a DVD player with 6 jacks, but I have PS2, gamecube, VCR, and DVD player connected to the speakers via a 4 way scart lead. I get no sound through the 5.1 channel (the 6 jack part i suppose), but if I connect with the L R (white and red) jacks, i can get 5.1 stereo, 3d sound and 2 channel. Am I getting full surround sound? and if not, what would i need to do so?
using audacity to record sound? i have used audacity before but i can't get it to work on my laptop to record streaming internet radio, etc. the headphone jack on my laptop is broken so i can't hear sound on my lop top unless i plug my headphones or speakers into a "usb sound card" called 3D Sound. when i try to record through audacity it doesn't pick up any sound. is there a way i can get around this? are there any programs out there that i can use to record sound on my busted laptop? thanks
Nokia N73 Vs N78 Speakers and Case? For those who have the N78 I'm curious whether the speakers on the N78 are better then that of the N73. Many websites list that the N73 has 3D Stereo Speakers and the N78 is listed as Stereo Speakers. I was wondering if maybe this is just something that they did not look into for the N78 or if the N73 really does have better sound quality in the speakers. Aside from this question I was wondering where the N78 owners bought their case and if they have any recommendations.

Surround sound not producing sound with HDMI cable? Okay here's what happening I just bought a new Sony 3D tv and I already had a Sony surround sound system The surround sound worked before when I used the red and white cables on an older plasma Now I've removed those cables and plugged in the HDMI, however I am getting no sound from the speakers on the system. Why has the sound on my computer has suddenly stopped working!? The sound on my computer was working fine up until recently when I turned it on and the sound wasn't working. I don't have speakers so I listen through headphones, but the headphones aren't broken. When I opened Xear 3d audio configuration and clicked the tester sounds, the sound was working fine through the headphones but when I listen via the internet or itunes, there seems to be no sound. I've tried just about everything, is there anyone out there who knows what the problem may be and how to fix it? Would appreciate it a lot =]
Questions about a USB Audio Sound Card? Well first, as in my last post, I broke my speakers and messed up my 3.5mm jack on my laptop in one swoop *I accidentally bumped my leg against the speaker 3.5mm jack plug.* Well, now I hear I should get a usb Audio sound card, which is fine *I also gotta get new speakers, which I can find* but I had a few questions. 1. First, I seen people selling speakers by a USB port. *Instead of the speakers having a 3.5mm jack, they connect to the USB port.* would those work on a Windows Vista Gateway laptop, or would that be rolling the dice? 2. How does a USB sound Card adapter work? Is the sound good and clear? Will I even notice a difference between a USB sound card and the 3.5mm jack? Like if I buy new speakers, would it work the same as it did in the 3.5mm jack? Any and all information would be fantastic *As I just learned about these a few days ago when I broke my speakers.* 2B. If I plug in my speakers or headphones, will sound still come out of my laptop, or will they work like my 3.5mm jack did? 2C. Is there any difference between the 3.5mm jack and a USB sound card? 2D. I have once again have a gateway, or does the model of the computer even matter? 2E. Is there a brand or model above all else, or basically any one will do? Ive found a few on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-2-0-Mic-Speaker-5-1-Audio-Sound-Card-ADAPTER-NR-/250615533297?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a59d98ef1 http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-3D-Audio-Sound-Card-Microphone-Adapter-Dell-IBM-/330446328481?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4cf022d2a1 3. Now, my laptop still has sound, just if I plug in headphones to the 3.5mm jack, only one speaker works, the other doesnt. So I ask, can someone fix the 3.5mm jack in my laptop? Would it be costly? 3A. Lastly, if I go the USB route, lets say I wanna plug in speakers to it, they will work, correct? Also, will sound still come from my laptop too, or will it basically be like the 3.5mm jack? (When I plugged in my speakers to the 3.5mm jack no sound came from the laptop. Same with headphones. HEadphones plugged in, no sound from laptop. Headphones out, sound from laptop). So if someone is sleeping, can I plug in headphones to my usb port and not have sound from the laptop too or will I have sounds coming from 2 places? Also, any additional info would be great. Thanks for any help, I feel so dumb and stupid about this, has anyone else ever broke anything or messed anything up on accident? I feel like Im the only person that messes things up as much as I do and have been really down on myself lately, being very depressed and moody lately. Just curious if Im alone in this boat or if other people have also broken important items? So my last question is, and this is more for my self esteem and not being so down 4. Has anyone else broke costly and items of importance? Once again, thanks for any help. Im sorry for all the questions, I have just never run into this problem before, heck, I only began using USB ports about a year ago *I was still using my cute little floppy discs* so I apologize for being so clueless. Which one of these laptops has better audio/video? Cause I can't tell, lol... Laptop 1 audio/video says: "This laptop features NVIDIA GeForce Go 7150M and 1071MB of shared video memory, which is drawn from the main system memory. This video memory is perfect for everyday activities like casual movie watching or gaming. The built-in Altec Lansing stereo speakers give your multimedia some extra kick." Laptop 2 audio/video says: This laptop features Intel Media Graphics Accelerator X3100 with 384MB of total available graphics memory. This video memory is perfect for everyday activities like casual movie watching or gaming. The built-in speakers provide compelling 3D sound. Any help would be really appreciated cause I'm thinking about buying one of the two, I just fail at knowing anything about computers so just curious. Also, I want to be able to do *some* gaming on it, so by better, I mean better for playing games.

Why does my computer think I only have one speaker? There is no sound coming out of my right speaker (the left and sub woofer are fine). I don't think it's unplugged, and I don't think it is something wrong with the speaker because it happened with another set of speakers before, too. Upon opening the volume control in XP, it has the 3D Depth and PC Speaker balances greyed out. Possible causes and solutions? Note that it worked just fine yesterday.

Logitech X-540 - Certain sounds only play on some speakers. Voice only works on the front speaker. Is it norm? I bought a logitech X-540 set and they sound great no doubt about it. However when Im watching some movies or listening to music the voices only play on the front speaker(s). Certain noises only work on some of the speakers sometimes. Lets say if someone smashes a window in a movie you hear the sound of the glass falling to the floor on the rear speakers and not on all of them for example. The 3D feature is supposed to mimic real life sound. If someone behind you calls you, you know the person is behind you. That however doesn't work properly with these speakers. How do I change this so the speakers have a more real "sound distribution"? and is it possible to have voices coming out of all the speakers? (Voice comes out of the front speaker at all times and only comes out of the rear speakers on certain movies or music) Sorry about the long speech. Its hard to explain it all in just a few words. Thanks in advance. Mauro
I'm trying to UNMUTE my MICROPHONE using VISTA and an ONBOARD SOUND CARD? This seems to be near impossible. Some people can right click on their audio icon in their system tray and then go to playback devices/speakers/levels. These lucky people see an unmute microphone option. They either have a better audio card or more updated drivers. I have onboard sound of a brand I haven't found. I got my pc from I buy power and got their "3d Premium surround sound onboard" card. I have yet to find the brand of this. I have also tried to find registry hacks but none seem to apply to me. If anyone can help, even if it's a workaround or a 3rd party application I would appreciate it.

Help Me please. I recently installed Vista and have now lost all sound.? I upgraded from xp to vista home premium. I did a clean install and have updated all drivers but I still have no sound. The sound icon in my system tray has a cross on it and when I hover the cursor over it it reads "No audio output device is installed". I have also looked in my device manager and under sound, video and game controllers I have High definition Audio Device but that has a yellow exclaimation mark on it. I have updated drivers but it shows up as having a code 10 error????? I use to use C-Media with the xear 3d program and I had ery good sound quality coming through my speakers but am now very frustrated as I can't play any music. I have an Intel motherboard GA-8I915P-G which I believe has the sound card built in but I'm not too great with all the technical stuff. Please if anyone can help I'd be truly grateful.

Is a microphone jack usually mono? These are the specifications on my Toshiba Satellite M35X laptop computer. The only sound input is the microphone jack. Can I assume that it is mono and not stereo? How can I tell? I have not purchased a microphone yet. Note: Even though it indicates "Built-in microphone" my model only has a jack, no microphone. Sound • Realtek ALC250 Software Sound • 16-bit stereo; Built-in stereo speakers, Built-in microphone • Direct 3D Sound; DirectSound, 3D Sound , Direct Music, MIDI (playback) • Sound Volume Control Dial I know that stereo requires 2 microphones but I have seen single devices that have both build into them and use a single 3 conductor cable. Many people give advice on how to make copies of cassette tapes and they say to patch it through the microphone jack. I was wondering if any computers had stereo connectors like that or would you always have to have the left and right phillips jacks like on a stereo? As I have indicated THERE IS NO MICROPHONE ON MY MODEL even though the specs say so.

Is this a mid range decent gaming rig? I was just wondering if this was a decent gaming rig. Mainly I want to play warhammer online. The specs are as follows: Case ( Nzxt Alpha Gaming Tower Case w/420W Power Supply Black ) Power Supply ( 600 Watt -- Power Supply SLI Ready ) Processor ( AMD Athlon™ X2 6000+ Dual-Core CPU w/ HyperTransport Technology ) Processor Cooling ( [=== Silent ===] Extreme-Performance AMD CPU Cooling Fan System Kit Silent & Overclocking Proof = Maximum cooling efficiency for quietness and performance ) Motherboard ( [SLI] Asus M3N72-D NVIDIA nForce 750a SLI Chipset w/7.1 Sound, Gb LAN, S-ATA Raid, IEEE 1394, USB 2.0, Dual PCI-E/HDMI MB ) Memory ( 4 GB [1 GB X4] DDR2-800 PC6400 Memory Module Corsair-Value or Major Brand ) Video Card ( NVIDIA GeForce 9800GT 1GB w/DVI + TV Out Video ) Video Card Brand ( === High Performance === eVGA Brand Video Card Powered by NVIDIA ) Hard Drive ( 320 GB HARD DRIVE [Serial-ATA-II, 3Gb, 7200 RPM, 16M Cache] ) CD/DVD Drive ( 16x DVD-ROM Drive Black ) CD-RW/DVD-RW Drive ( [Lightscribe Technology] LG 22X Dual Format/Double Layer DVD±R/±RW + CD-R/RW Drive Black ) Sound Card ( 3D Premium Surround Sound Onboard ) Speaker System ( 600W PMPO 3 PCS Super Bass Subwoofer Speaker System ) Network Card ( Intel Pro 10/100/1000 Network Card ) Keyboard ( Wolfking Timber Wolf Gaming Keyboard ) Operation System ( Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium) Basically, one of my biggest concerns is if the Processor, motherboard, and graphics card are all compatible. The prebuilt system came with a phenom 4 processor and an HD 4850 graphics card. the motherboard was not changed so i'm assuming its compatible. I couldn't really find any straight answers on the internet. thanks in advance for the help edit: I had a typo, i am getting the 64 bit vista Also, thanks for the great advice. The only problem i saw with the HD 4850 was game compatibility issues. Also, is the 9800gtx 512mb + price worth getting over the 9800gt 1gb? By the way, most intel pcs I've seen are a bit out of my price range. The listed specs are $820 or so at Ibuypower. Thanks again. forgot one last thing. Should I go with the Onboard LAN Network (Gb or 10/100) or Intel Pro 10/100/1000 Network Card

Explain the effect of 3D audio from stereo headphones? Dolby 5.1 sound can be heard through standard stereo headphones. The mind can perceive the sound in all directions around the listener's head. How is this 3D audio perception acheived with only two channel audio? And only two speakers? Maybe I just don't understand stereo audio well enough. Here's a link for an example: http://www.holophonic.ch/archivio/testaudio/Cereni%20-%20Holophonic.mp3
