What is a good Open source alternative to AutoCAD?

I need something thats relatively easy to learn, and will allow 3D modeling - for a truck. Thanks!

  1. Look these: http://www.stevekallestad.com/blog/open_source_cad.html http://www.freebyte.com/cad/cad.htm
  2. ive heard of this one but haven't tried it myself: http://www.gcad3d.org/gCAD3D_en.htm#Home
  3. Google Sketchup is a very user-friendly 3d modeler that I believe is free. Besides designing your own things, you can import buildings and cars that others have drawn, and use them. http://sketchup.google.com/
  4. Seriously, do you really mean AutoCAD, or just "AnyCAD"? The state of Linux CAD is appalling. The truth is that there is no true open source alternative to AutoCAD. gCAD3D and Sketchup are free, but not open source. PythonCAD, FreeCAD and QCAD are all free and opensource, but don't hold a candle's wick to the drafting functionality of AutoCAD. None of them can even read a binary DWG file, let alone work like AutoCAD.
