  1. 3d desingn was made for MAC BOOKS ESPECIALLY THE AIR MODEL GET IT
  2. 3D was not made for Mac. But anyways, your going to have to narrow it down from just a series. There are just way too many choices and configurations for both. But, based on what your major or whatever classes your taking, you are going to need a at least 4 GB of RAM and a 64 bit operating system (WIndows Vista Home Premium 64 bit edition). This will allow you to run multiple applications more smoothly and will make your computer more efficient.
  3. the FZ series 8400M GT and the FW series GMA 4500MHD(integrated) graphics cards are both class 3 and kind of weak for 3d modeling/CAD You need a class 1 or 2 card. [Class 3 Low-Midrange Graphics Cards ] Vaio does not offer x64 O/S's, and what they offer is really insufficient for your needs. Essentially you need a gaming notebook with x64 Vista Business or Ultimate with 4GB Ram and a 300GB 7200RPM Hard drive- BUT if I had to pick one, Id pick the FZ with the T7800 core2duo and 8400M GT with 4GB ram and a large 7200rpm hard drive with Ultimate. Note- below is a better high performance system that costs less than the Vaio: Sager 15" NP2096 $991 Intel Core2Duo P8400 2.26GHz Penryn Montevina Core 1066MHz FSB Processor nVidia Geforce 9600M GT DDR2 DX10 512MB dedicated Graphics Card (class 2) DVD RW DL optical drive 2GB PC2-6400 RAM (upgradable to 4GB) 160GB 5400 RPM Harddrive (upgradable) Bluetooth Wireless 802.11 a/g/n HDCP support for High Definition 3 Year Warranty Configurable for XP/Vista-all versions x86/x64
  4. I think you like Sony VAIO laptop. Anyway you need to increase your budget a bit. AR is at the next level compared to your choice (FZ and FW). AR has NVDIA GeForce 512MB of graphics so it should be sufficient for your CAD work. Other criteria for your reference: http://www.tipskey.com/consumer/laptop_computer_selection_criteria.htm
