What are different ways to build a 3D cell model?

I have to create one for Biology. I haven't chosen what type of cell I will be doing yet, but I don't want to do the ever-so-popular "Styrofoam ball on a stick" Any ideas would be greatly appreciated =)

1. I did one using all sorts of candy. It was pretty cool!
2. I always liked models that use surfboard resin to hold everything in place.
