At an IMAX 3D showing, do you use those paper glasses with the red & blue lenses?
Has anyone seen an "IMAX 3D" movie? Do they hand out those paper glasses? Or has some new technology been invented? Maybe something where they incorporate it in the film & the images appear to be 3D on the screen without the use of glasses?

- you dont have to, but thats what makes the movie seem like its actually coming at you
- It kinda depends which 3D they mean. Some 3D IMAX movies you don't need glasses for.
- There are three basic technologies for projected 3D: The red and blue glasses, which is the oldest, but is lousy for color rendition. The polarized glasses, which gives much more accurate color... And a special kind of electronic glasses which operate in synchronization with the projector(s) by rapidly blinking on and off with each alternating frame of film, one frame for the left eye, the next for the right, and so on. I personally prefer the polarizer method, as it's a bit easier on the eyes. All of the methods can work on any film format... IMAX, 35mm, 70mm, 16mm, even video.
- I was actually wondering this too because I want to see Harry Potter 5 in Imax 3D. When Superman Returns came out I saw a thing on tv discussing the new technology and I think they've developed a new glasses [not the pathetic red/blue kind.] or no glasses at all. But I'm not 100% positive on that though...
- no, they look like sunglasses
- No, no paper glasses. The IMAX screen is 5 storey's high and as wide as your field of vision. DO NO - repeat - do not sit in the front row lol
