I have a quick anime movie question.?

Okay, there’s this 3D animated (Japanese, I think) movie in which the main plot focuses around two warring human nations or something. It’s futuristic and one of them oppresses the other. The oppressors also live on what used to be a giant robot, but is now deactivated. Anyway, the male protagonist is from the oppressed nation and helps another female protagonist, from the oppressive nation, who finds out she is adopted—anyway, he helps her sacrifice herself to start another giant robot up and uses it to fight the oppressive nation’s robot. I sure hope this is right. Another key feature was the villain who had these weird like scorpion tails that came out of his body and could drain your “essence.” Does anyone know what that was called or any clues?

2. I'm pretty sure that's "Appleseed". I could be wrong
