what program out there lets me make my own 3D models for games?

i am very interested in making a game of my own and my own 3D models but I have no idea where to start. is there a program out there that maybe can give me a headstart on making a 3D game?

1. well theres alot ill start with 3D max it seems like a good program but takes forever to download this is advanced though search 3d modeling programs in the download.com site ill give u a list of recommed programs to use free and non free ones easy and advanced also hope this helps
2. 3d Studio Max is the industry standard but it's quite expensive.
