3D - 2

Do 3D movies come out on DVD?

Meet the Robinsons was in 3D when I saw it at the movies and I kept my 3D glasses in case it came out on DVD but I'm not sure it will...

  1. Yes, but they suck because the effect is not the same at Home!! For example Shrek came out in a 3d Version
  2. The come with glasses (like Spy Kids 3D did)
  3. The 3D process in theaters differs from the one you can get on your TV, so you'd best purchase or rent the 2D version in DVD format. In theaters, they use the grey polarized glasses and project two full-color polarized images onto the screen. Each lens only allows one image to pass. So far, they cannot do this on a TV screen (or the printed page), but they can use images in two different colors, such as cyan and red, and you use glasses with those colors to accomplish the 3D effect. The result is not nearly as good as the theater setup.
  4. Not usually, and when they do they usually suck. However, with the recent introduction of digital 3D along with hi-def DVD the potential is now greater then ever for 3D home movies.
