3D - 2

Reading the recent article, do you think TV,DVD, Computers are bad for children?

My son is 2and a half. He has been playing computer games since he was about 17 month. He's very smart when it comes to the computer and it amazes me how well he can work the mouse and the buttons. He has been watching dvd's (his first love was a Chris de Burgh dvd) and now its any 3D animated movie. He loves watching Baby Einstein, which I have found that if it wasn't for that he wouldn't be talking as much as he has. He can still plays and has a creative imagination so I don't any problem in watching movies or playing the computer. I see them as being helpful. In my opinion.

  1. I read an article yesterday from the American Pediatric Society stating children should not watch TV before the age of 2. That statement may be overly broad in my opinion. I don't think TV in itself is necessarily bad. For our children (right or wrong) we've made a concious effort to avoid using TV, DVD as baby-sitters for our small children, but rather for very brief entertainment. Bottom-line... moderation in all things.
  2. Change is the only thing that is constant. Our world is changing at an amazing rate.Today's children belong to the next gen .Their prime importance is their goal. They never waste their time on making others happy like ,having time with others, nor does he expect from others as he have all the pleasure these things could deliver. so nothing is wrong with ur child ,but do check wether he is in his gen and not the next generation of his.
  3. Ever hear of the saying to much can be a bad thing. Same thing applies here. To much of sitting in front of the tube is not good for anyone. Moderation is the key. Yes the child will learn and it can be a good tool for it but what ever happened to playing outside and learning about the rocks and the bugs in the grass and what dandelions are and even believe it or not scraped knees from learning to ride a bike or roller skate. People not only children don't go out anymore and play. There is never enough time according to everybody. People are getting more sick these days because there isn't enough time to play. So teaching our kids to sit in front of the TV or in front of the monitor for all hours of the day is not good in my opinion. Play with them and teach them board games and how to interact with others. Read with them and share in their life's new mysteries.
