Is it possible to overlay a 3d Animation over a .AVI video?
Me and some friends made a zombie movie, theres a part where a zombies arm is ripped off, we are trying to save on cash, so we figured we could create a "Blobmesh" blood squirting animation on 3D Studio Max and somehow over lay it over the actual video file, is there any way to do this?

- Yes, you need matchmoving software. http://www.thepixelfarm.co.uk/contentfull.aspx?content=pfhoe.htm Pfhoe is inexpensive (49 pounds) and the results are generally excellent. It works like this: 1) import video into match moving software 2) create the camera data 3) export camera data and import into 3d app 4) render (with alpha channel) 5) use a video editor to combine both. (After Effects, Jahshaka) It depends on the software whether you need the 5th step: it is possible to use the avi as a background in a 3d app (parented to the camera). It's way more flexible to use a compositing tool, though. See video tutorial 50 @ http://www.cmivfx.com/tutorials.asp CHeers!
