Can I make a program on vista use more memory?
I have windows ultimate 64 bit. I have a 64 bit program. I do 3d renderings, so I have 8gigs of ram (that vista recognizes) and I expect that while rendering, the 3d program would use more ram. The program only uses about 2 gigs when it crashes (I know it's 2 gigs because I have a gadget that shows memory usage). So is there a way to tell vista "GIVE THAT PROGRAM MORE MEMORY!" Or is vista that stingy?

- It will use as much memory as it needs. If you open the task manager, you should be able to right click on the process of that program and set the priority to 'high' or 'realtime', which may make it run faster.
- It's probably the 3D rendering program which is controlling how much RAM the program uses.
- A program will generally use as much RAM as it requires. If you have 2gb modules, and your program crashes on 2gb usage, I would suspect a faulty module. Switch the second module with the last one, and see if it improves....if it does, then you likely have a faulty module. You can use memcheck, or pc check to verify this...
