legality of animated porn?
While recently researching software designed to create animation like “POSER” or “DAZ” I searched 3D models, what I found inter-mixed in the results were several porn sites dedicated to the creation of animated porn using the creation of life like renderings of people engaged in sexual activity’s. At first I was amazed at the artistry of the graphic artist and the capability of the state art software., but soon found some very disturbing images created obviously to appeal to the fantasies of pedophiles. Child like renderings engaged in sexual situations with adult renderings in a storybook fashion and occasionally mpeg type format. Anatomically the graphics were very realistic. While I realize that no living child is being exploited, I still wonder of the legality of portraying these types of situations in such a life like manner. octaviakraut: an interesting observation, I wonder if making this type of material available will tend to spurn interests in weak minded individuals whom may want to cross that threshold between fantise and reality? If I were a graphics artist it would turn my stomach being asked to render these types of images for my paycheck.

- I have nothing to back this up, but my guess would be that the artists could claim some sort of 1st Amendment rights with regards to creating any sort of pedophilia animation. Since there isn't an actual child being filmed, they could probably get away with their garbage. There probably wouldn't be much of a market for this trash, but I would think that it is legal, maybe I'm wrong though.
- It's a pretty interesting issue. I was wondering when this would come up in the high tech animation we have. I guess, first, it is necessary to determine whether or not pornography causes any particular behavior or encourages any behavior. For instance, will a pedophile be more likely to molest a child after viewing this pornography? I really don't know. On the other hand, could animated porn where no real child is hurt be an outlet for pedophiles that prevents children from being exploited for the use of pornography? If so, it's good. What happens when we have so perfected virtual reality that a pedophile can satisfy his desires without ever engaging a real human. I can only imagine that would really cut down on the number of real children being hurt.
