What is the most popular CAD software in the Industry?
I'd like to play around with some demos and learn out to use CAD programs a little bit. What is the Industry standard? AutoCAD?

- autocad is most popular based on what i heard in the past
- Inventor is really popular in the industry around here. It's the 3D model version of autoCAD. There is also Solidworks and Pro E that some companies use that are also 3D.
- Auto-Cad is probably the most popular. I have a cad program that I down loaded that was free and they gave me the license for it free for personal use. It is similar to auto cad and fairly easy to use. I don't have the name of the program with me here but you can do a google or yahoo search for freeware cad/cam and get 1 good free program and that is it. They have a newer version out and are hoping by giving you a copy of the older program that you will eventually upgrade. I still use the one I have at home on occasion and am well pleased with it. You can also save in several different cad formats plus you have many import/export options.
- I work with architects and engineers on a daily basis. AutoCAD is definitely the industry standard for the construction industry. Other industries, such as shipbuilding, manufacturing (CAD/CAM), mechanical engineering, etc. may use different software designed for specific needs. It really depends on what you're looking to do, but you can't go wrong learning AutoCAD. However, it's not cheap software. If you're looking for something to just to mess around with, there are plenty of free CAD programs out there to get stated with (some are better than others).
- All Adobe series nothing else ..............
