what laptop do you use for running cad software like solidworks?

  1. I'm not sure I understand exactly what you are asking, but I use CAD software, including Solidworks and the bigger the monitor or screen you have the better. Trying to do modeling in Solidworks, or in fact any CAD program with a mouse pad instead of a real mouse is almost impossible. Personally,I think the screen size of most laptops except the big dollar ones is too small for regular daily use for CAD or modeling.
  2. I would use something with a Intel Duo core processer, minimum of 2gig or ram, 4 or more preferably, Windows XP (vista sucks and is a rescourse hog) 512 video card. I am not sure they make CAD video cards for laptops because they are usually freaking huge so you might have to settle for a gamming video card. Hard drive I would go with nothing less than 7200 RPM if you can.
