3D ultra sound? Should i get one or not?

I've seen images of the 3d U/S when they where in the tummy and after they are born and they are exactly that same. I think it would be nice to see her in a 3d form, but i also want it to be a surprise when she is born. How many of you are going to do it or wait? I don't know if I should do it?? What do you ladies think? Thank you

  1. I was just too anxious to go. I had one done at 20 weeks and will be going back at 28 weeks. It's an amazing experience, and if you want to get it done, go for it.
  2. i wish i got one, i didnt think it was a big deal either, but i got super jealous that my friend got it... haha. sometimes i look through my sons old ultrasounds (hes 6 months now) and it woulda been nice to add a 3D pic to the scrap book
  3. well i didn't do it with my daughter and thats why i am not gonna do it with my boy, but i think it is cool if you really want it go ahead and do it.
  4. hi there i got one for free due to where i went for my prenatal care. this was at 30 weeks well she didnt show her face her hand was covering it but i think its worth it
  5. U should get one if you want.I'm not getting one because i heard theres danger with it and i'm not finding out the sex til birth just for the extra excitement.
  6. I'm not having one, But thats because I never really wanted one. Then I saw my old graphics teachers pictures and wished I had.
  7. I honestly can't say what I'd do if it was offered at my hospital, but I'm glad I'm not going to see. I already found out the sex (it's a girl!!) so I think some things should be left as a surprise. If it was offered, I don't know if I'd be able to handle not seeing...so I'm glad I can't get the 3d. I'm really bad with presents, and always have to try to figure out what it is!!!!!
  8. My husband and I actually went today and had it done. I am 19 weeks so she was still little but we go back again at 32 weeks. I am not doing it to try to see what she will look like, but just to see her in general. It is kind of a bonding experience and makes it more really for dadddy also.
  9. There is a school of thought that believes unnecessary ultrasounds are counter productive. IF you have no reason to be poking around in there, then they shouldn't. Ultra sounds are not photo ops and personally, if I didn't have to have one every time I went (I'm 32 weeks along and my baby has a sacrococcygeal terratoma or SCT on her tailbone. We are monitoring it to see if I have to deliver c-section and to make sure we don't have to deliver early due to stress on her heart) I would opt out.
  10. I want one so bad, but I don't think I'm going to get one. They are $150 out of pocket, and the baby's father doesn't think it's worth it and thinks the 3D pictures look weird. Oh well... I say if it's an option for you, then go for it.
  11. I had a 3D ultrasound with my son when I was 35 weeks preg or so and it was wonderful I cried. It did look like him when he came out. I would definitly do it, because its not an exact pic and sometimes its kind of hard to see so you will still be suprised, but don't do it too early or too late 34-36 weeks is a good time. I had one done with my daughter too and I loved seeing my babies inside of me she was like 24 weeks when i had it done with her so she looked skinny and underdeveloped but really cute. good luck
  12. I have done it twice during this pregnancy...1st @ 15 weeks and recently @ 26 weeks...It was wonderful to see how much she has grown! she looks like her daddy...hehe..she was yawning and playing with her toes....I'm looking forward to do it one last time @ 32 weeks....Can't wait!...It's a great experience...I would def. advice you to do it...it's worth it...and one day when your baby is older...you can show it him/her! It can be a little costly but shop around different places....good luck!
  13. It kind of sounds like your mind is already made up. If you want the surprise (since you already know it's a girl) then shy away from it and stick with traditional ultrasound.
  14. Go get the 3d ultrasound. You will not regret it. Attached are the differences: http://www.flickr.com/photos/8857576@N06/ We are expecting our little girl any day now!!
