fluid on fetus brain 18 weeks?
normal 18 week ultra sound and some structures of the fetus's brain were un seen they think because of possible fluid, I go for a 3D ultra sound Wed. What could this be? Everything else from measurments to movement to hear beat was perfect.

- Often fluid can indicate neural tube defects - the most common being spina bifada. However, seeing as though they are not 100% sure and they are going to investigate more try not to get too stressed.

- When I was about 18 weeks they also found a fluid filled cyst in my babys brain. They said it could be a sign of Trisomy 18 or Down Syndrome so of course I freaked out right away. I was very upset, but when I went in to see a Genetics Counselor they explained that since there are no other markers of these syndromes that the chances of my baby having one of them was 1/1800 which made me feel alooooooooooot better. I am currently 30 weeks prego and the cyst has since gone away. These liquid cysts occur in about 1% of pregnancies. PS Since you said that the measurements and everything else was fine with your baby, then your baby most likely also has no other "markers" for these syndromes. Often if the baby has Trisomy 18 or DOwn Syndrome the fists will be clenched, there will be heart problems apparent at ultra sound, the limbs would be shorter, sounds like your baby will be fine, just like mine! Dont stress over this.
- i hope its nothing Bad. goodluck!
