Help Me please. I recently installed Vista and have now lost all sound.?

I upgraded from xp to vista home premium. I did a clean install and have updated all drivers but I still have no sound. The sound icon in my system tray has a cross on it and when I hover the cursor over it it reads "No audio output device is installed". I have also looked in my device manager and under sound, video and game controllers I have High definition Audio Device but that has a yellow exclaimation mark on it. I have updated drivers but it shows up as having a code 10 error????? I use to use C-Media with the xear 3d program and I had ery good sound quality coming through my speakers but am now very frustrated as I can't play any music. I have an Intel motherboard GA-8I915P-G which I believe has the sound card built in but I'm not too great with all the technical stuff. Please if anyone can help I'd be truly grateful.
