c-media ac 97 echo?
every mp3/wma/and sounds echo when played. i have reinstalled the drivers, didnt fix. i have no 3d sound programs, no mic, tried new speakers, jack is in the right audio port, i have tried everything please help. i am running win xp sp2. it did the same thing on win xp sp1. every mp3/wma/and sounds echo when played, not just downloaded ones, even sounds that came with windows like the ping, win logon and log off sounds. i have reinstalled the drivers, didnt fix. i have no 3d sound programs, no mic, tried new speakers, jack is in the right audio port, i have tried everything please help. i am running win xp sp2. it did the same thing on win xp sp1.

- If you downloaded the file from a paid service (i.e.: iTunes, Napster, etc.) it should not do that, since they are very high quality files (playing up to 290 bits per second), but if you downloaded the file from a sharing service (i.e.;; BitTorrent, Limewire, etc.) they may have an "echo" since they may be low quality. If you think the problem is caused by the speakers, then may want to look into purchasing new ones.
- On your c-media mixer center turn off the mic.
- Also check the settings in Effects in your C-Media mixer centre are set to Room or any other setting that takes your fancy, there are a few to select from on mine.
