3D - 2

Why are you not supposed to look directly into sunlight wearing 3D glasses?

Public Comments

  1. You are not supposed to look directly into the sun anyway. 3D glasses are dark, so they will make your pupils open, but offer no sun protection. So they just make matters worse. You will harm your vision.
  2. If you look at the sun through anything less than a complete black glass filter you will damage your eyes. This happens in exactly the same way as when you focus a picture of the sun on a piece of paper and the paper bursts into flame. What you are doing is concentrating the heat of the sun into a very small area and the resultant concentration will heat the paper to a point at which it burns. When you look at the sun, the lens of your eye does exactly the same and the heat from the sun is concentrated to a small spot on the retina of your eye. This burns out your retina and will make you permanently blind.
