Is it technically possible to watch 3d movies at home?
I just don't know how it works surley if I bought an imax dvd or something and I got some special glasses that would work right? If not then why not?

- Yes it is possible but you need the tinted glasses.
- First, there is a certain process that has to be present on the DVD for it to be presented in 3D. Either the film has to be filmed and processed for a 3D experience, or a digitizing process needs to enhance the film when the transfer goes to DVD. Next, the person watching the DVD needs to wear special glasses in order to see the effect. You used to have to wear red and blue glasses that ultimately threw off the color of the film. The 3D glasses used today are basically polarized sunglasses. A good example of this is Spy Kids 3: Game Over. If you bought the DVD, there are glasses in the box to use and the film looks a little fuzzy if you are not using the glasses. If you watch the film on HBO for example, and try to use the glasses, they won't work because it wasn't enhanced for 3D for the general viewing public. So, bottom line, if the IMAX DVD you want to see in 3D doesn't say that it was produced in 3D, it won't work. When I saw Superman Returns on the IMAX screen this past summer, there were 20 minutes produced in 3D that we had to wear special glasses for. When the DVD came out a couple of weeks ago, there were no 3D parts on it.
