Gender Determination?

I'm 16wks & 3days today. I will be going to get a Gender Determination ultrasound on Thursday. How accurate will it be? It is a 2D Ultrasound, but the place I am going also does 3D & 4D. So they will switch back & forth to get the most accurate result. At that point at 17wks how accurate is an ultrasound? 2D & 3D? We are having this one done at 17wks, then at 22 weeks we are getting another one, and at 24 weeks another. Then every 4 weeks after that we will have one. They are monitoring the size of my baby because my daughter was tiny at full term. Weighing 5lbs3oz. So, I will have lots of back up ultrasounds just incase lol :)

  1. both very accurate hunny x
  2. They're pretty accurate. When i went in for mine (the only time i was in a hospital through the entire pregnancy) i got a clear shot between by babe's legs. Even i could tell what it was!
  3. You should be able to tell the gender by 16 weeks. Just remember, if they say it's a boy they are probably right. But if they say it's a girl, there is a chance they could be wrong because some boys gentials develop later than others. Congrats!
  4. When I was pregnant with my kids..only the 2D was available. I had them done by a professional who specialized in ultrasounds only and he was right about the gender.
  5. not completely accurate, i had my ultrasound done at 17 weeks and they weren't able to tell me "for sure".. the were PRETTY sure i'm having a girl but all babies start off looking like they have girl parts and if they havent matured into a boy yet then they could be wrong. if they tell you you're having a boy, then you're having a boy. but if they tell you you're having a girl...theres a slight chance they could be wrong. i've heard of many people who were told they were having girls and ended up with boys because they had their ultrasounds too early. hopefully you will get another one later in your pregnancy to atleast confirm it before you have the baby... good luck!
  6. both are accurate but it depends also on the babys position because when i was 17 weeks i went for a 3d but she wasnt able to tell because the baby was crossing his legs and she ended up saying that the baby is a girl and then after a couple of weeks went again and this time it was clearer and they said its a boy
  7. I had a gender determination ultrasound at 17 weeks last Thursday! Mine was a 2D as well but they did do 3d's and 4d's. Drink some OJ before you go and don't worry about drinking water, they make you pee anyway. I found out I am having a little girl. :) You have a great chance of finding out. Good luck and congrats!
  8. We thought my mom was having 2 boys and a girl, but it was actually 3 boys. So, before you celebrate at 17 weeks, wait until 22 weeks. Just because you don't want 1000 pink things, then to find out it's a boy:) Congrats!!!!!!!!
