Vomitting and Diahhorea for 4 days now!!!!?
Okay so for those of you who are a regular on here, you'll know the situation and this is more of a followup question. If not then here goes... I've basically had severe vomitting and diahhorea for going on 4 days now. Been upable to keep things down or in(!) and I was also diagnosed with the UTI yesterday after a visit to hospital. I've been given anti sickness pill too but as i said, doesn't seem to be working a whole lot(!) I'm 35w 4d pregnant with my second Phoned NHS 24 who have advised that I go and see my GP this morning for an emergency appointment, which I will go to, i'm just a bit scared because I've felt no fetal movement as such in the past hour since i woke up and I'm very light headed and weak as a result of not being able to keep any food down. Will the lack of food be starting to get to the baby?? Because it has been four days now. It's obviously starting to get to me! Help and advise please. I know to go and see my doctor so please don't state the obvious.... I was uable to keep fluids down on the friday all day, then saturday was better, but sunday and monday i've not really been able to keep anything down, although i keep trying with the water. I'm just so hungry and faint!

- You just need to be drinking plenty of fluid. You do not want to get dehydrated. Your doctor may end up putting you in the hospital for IV fluids if it doesn't stop soon.. I know there are some suppositors you can use when pregnant for the nausia. I would try and see if you can keep some ensure down.
- The lack of food should not affect your baby if you are of regular weight (not underweight). However, if you are unable to keep fluids down this may affect your baby. Are you able to keep any fluids down? Or popsicles? Jello? If you can't keep fluids down for longer than 4 to 6 hours, then you should go on IV treatment for dehydration. Dehydration can make vomiting a lot worse, and if you can get rid of the dehydration you may feel well enough to keep some solid food down. If you can keep fluids down you need to always be sipping fluids (do not gulp them). Fizzy water may work the best if you are experiencing nausea, or flavored drinks. When I am having stomach problems and vomiting, I've found that for me personally popsicles and crushed ice stay down in my stomach the best. Good luck, I hope that the Dr can help you this morning and you are feeling better soon. I am sure everything will be ok as soon as they find a med that can work for you!
- You and your baby should be alright as long as you are getting plenty of fluids. I had this horrible virus during my second pregnancy....vomiting and diarreha. Medications did not work and it landed me in the hospital where they gave me an IV for fluids. That helped me feel 100% better within just a couple of hours and I was then able to eat some jello. It's a good idea to get checked out just to make sure you are not having contractions in the process. I was and didn't even know it...but they turned out to be BH. Feel better soon!
- No the lack of fluids or food you can keep down will not affect the baby, the baby will take whatever nutrients it needs from you so you will suffer but you baby will be fine. Im sure you are just worring about the baby a lot understandably, and your probably just thinking to much about it and waiting for it to move, babies have hours where they dont move it can be anything but im sure your just concentrating on it to much. The sooner you can get to the doctor the better just to put your mind at rest about the baby but im sure everything will be fine. Good Luck x
