3D - 2

Is 3D or 4D ultrasound risky for the fetus? Healthy babies after ultrasound?

Especially when having tried to conceive for 6 years, making a decision on whether to have 3D or 4D ultrasound is really important. Thank you.

  1. There is no risk involved with the ultrasounds. They are safe. I had a total of 20 with my second pregnancy and my son was born healthy and he is an active 3 year old now. They are ok just expensive sometimes if insurance doesn't cover them
  2. If it was risky, they simply wouldn't be legal.
  3. It's only needed if your doctor recommends it due to your age or possible problems.
  4. I have never heard of an unhealthy pregnancy because of an u/s. Most ob's do u/s's at least once in a pregnancy. At 20 weeks, and sometimes more depending.
  5. Not that I know of, otherwise they proably won't do it. I had one and know many, many others and were perfectly fine as well as the baby. Be sure to discuss your concerns with your doctor. No matter if they seem rushed or busy, always ask and be sure you understand them or whats being said or to clearify, so you understand more clearly. Congrats!
  6. There are no risks from an ultrasound to the baby- Enjoy those 3 or 4D ultrasounds of your precious baby- you will be amazed on how much more you can see with this type- and anyone that sees one will NEVER be able to say a baby is not alive. Congratulations, and I pray everything goes well with your pregnancy.
  7. there are no problems with ultrasounds. it is simply waves of energy picking up information as to their ends (the baby and surrounding objects) it is harmless and i recommend them to all women, this is a good way to check on the baby for complications and its the best image for the doctors caring for your child.
  8. its absolutely no different than the 2D black and white one. No extra risks and no known scientifically based facts have been discovered about the use of ultrasound so get one done. The 3D is awesome!
