watching 3d movies on the television?

I have a electrohome basic tv....i just need to know what to do so that i can watch 3d movies like spy kids 3d for example on my tv with the 3d glasses.....i don't want to watch it as a normal dvd but rather as a 3d dvd...how can i do this? i have 3d glasses...but it's like, in theatres the differince between a regular movie and a 3d movie is like something they do with the movie...on the tv i know i have to change some settings or something to watch it in 3d but i'm not exactly sure what.

1. the dvd usually comes with 3d glasses

I believe unless the movie you are trying to watch, is in that 3d mode for example, it looks blurry and you can see the images like green and red separated on the screen until you put on the glasses and it brings it into focus. If it is a DVD or VHS tape and you hit play and the movie looks normal to begin with without the 3d glasses Then there is nothing you can do to your TV to change it to 3d. George
3. There's 4 kinds of 3d movies : 1) Normal CGI animated 3d movies (regular ones) 2) Pulfrich 3D (where there is movement of scenes in 1 direction) and u have to watch using TV glasses. 3) Anaglyph 3D movies - Here u have to watch the movie using red/cyan glasses 4) Field Sequential 3D Movies - Here u need to attatch Field Sequential system to watch the field sequential movie.
