Workflow between 3D max & autodesk maya ?

I want to export a textured model from 3D max to auto desk maya 8.0, when i am exporting the model in ".obj" form, it is not saving the model with textures like bump maps. Is there a way to export a model with all its renderable texture to maya? I know very little about may. can anybody please explain how to work with both the soft wares together?

  1. Did you try exporting in FBX format. Another option is to use Collada. Both apps have free Collada plug-ins and Collada supports textures, etc: http://sourceforge.net/projects/colladamaya You can also use Collada to export to other apps such as Softimage XSI, SketchUp, etc.
