3D - 2

Is a level II Ultrasound the same as a 3D ultrasound?

I had a quad screen and everything came back normal. However, I have scoliosis (that was severe enough it needed surgery). So the doctor wants me to have a level II ultrasound just be extra sure the spine is ok, etc. I was wondering, will a level II ultrasound be 3D? Or is just a much clearer view of the same regular ultrasound screen? Thanks!

  1. no they are not the same, though depending where you go if they have 3D technology available they would likely use it. most OB recommend having a level 2 u/s that's also where you can determine sex of the baby and they do check for other possible problems as well
  2. No, they are not the same. The 3D / 4D ultrasounds are more of a novelty to give you images of your baby . . . so that you will have an idea of what the little one looks like. The level II ultrasound is more indepth and views the internal organs, anatomy, structures etc . . . a level II machine may have the 3D capabilities but this is really not what they are looking at. It will probably look very similar to the regular ultrasound screen. Best wishes for a happy & healthy pregnancy!
