- an actual model of city design, you want to figure out what the parameters or rules are for the city design, is it old or futuristic, is it underground or winter-proof, can there be horses, or can you fly helicopter to school, be creative, and draw on a piece of paper some ideas to make model, ~ then figure out how big the model can be, there are miniature with small people, or just the buildings and streets, ~ jot down a list of material you can use, lots of recycling materials available, cardboard, plastic, newspapers, and tools, scissors, string, tape, markers and paper, sponge stickers, tootpicks, popsicle sticks, play-doh, marerial cotton and wool, ~ make a platform for example 3 feet by 3 feet, then start a sketch of where the buildings go, then if there are any hills and landscape features, trees water, plot those on map, build an foundation with cardboard and tape where there may be elevations, and use paper mache to cover and mold design, ~ possibly use heavy bristol board to cut out square designs for buildings and draw / color building windows and walls, or use printer to print walls and glue to cardboard, ~ tape or glue buildings to platform, done ~ before taping all items on platform place them on surface and move around to fit and have a good appearance from a distance, search web for how to build models and make paper mache with flour and water, check stores like micheals for craft pieces, http://www.scale-model-art.com/scale-model-builder.html http://www.razoroye.net/images/Disney/Epcot/EpcotMiniTown2.jpg http://lh5.ggpht.com/_HMn4aILG_vs/RpC2j6sV0TI/AAAAAAAAARI/Ou8cuDQK1N8/underwood11.jpg http://www.electricscotland.com/lifestyle/tulloch_model.htm http://www.legendarytoys.com/DV-25469-0.html http://blog.makezine.com/archive/2006/10/design_a_worksh.html http://www.buildmodelcastles.com/html/dragonhead_castle.htm http://www.bigindoortrains.com/primer/buildings/store_fronts/store_fronts.htm Michaels general crafts http://www.michaels.com/general-crafts also view 3d warehouse for ideas, http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/search?q=city&btnG=Search&styp=m http://sketchup.google.com/ ..
