- The way you can tell something is 3D is because you have what is called binocular vision. what that means is you see out of 2 eyes :) Think of it as looking through 2 cameras, at two side by side images, that your brain puts together as a single image that has depth. Normally, when you look at a TV screen or a movie screen you are seeing a scene shot from a single camera lens so it looks flat. in other words, you need to see something out of two lenses (like your eyes) in order to perceive depth. In the case of 3d movies, they shoot a scene with 2 cameras that are positioned side by side that when viewed correctly look like a 3d image. The trick is how they get the left camera image to your left eye and the right camera image to your right eye. That's why you have to wear glasses. The glasses you wear are designed to only let your left eye see the left image and your right eye to see the right image. Then the effect of seeing '3D' takes place in your brain as it assembles the two images into one!
