Can they tell you the gender at 12 weeks with a 4D ultrasound?
I made an appointment for 3 weeks to this one place called Baby's First Ultrasound" to have a 4D ultrasound done. I told them if they could tell the sex by then They said that they could try to see if we can see what it is. So I'm going anyway just for curiosity...What do you think is it too soon? I can't wait!!!!!....LOL :D Oh they told me it's more accurate till 15 weeks so should I reschedule? I'll be 15 weeks in one month....

- 12 weeks is kind of doubtfull, because if its a boy his balls havent dropped down out of his body yet. 14 weeks is probebly the earliest you can cound on with a 4d
- It's very, VERY rare to know what the gender is at 12 weeks. Normally when you get 4D ultrasounds done they ask you to come in at no earlier than 15 weeks. I think you might be wasting your money girl!! And plus, when I had to go in at 11 weeks for cramping, they did an ultrasound and the pictures of the baby were so little... But hey, if you wanna do it, that's all you!! I'll cross my fingers!
- no. that part of the body hasn't finished developing yet.
- Probably not. They usually cant tell until 15 weeks & every week they are more accurate but can tell for sure at 20 weeks.
- Yes, I would reschedule it for 15 weeks! I found out with my son at 15 weeks but I'm going to do the same thing and get the 3d/4d ultra sound to find out the sex at 15 or so weeks. Good Luck!!
- 15 weeks is really like the earliest and even then The normal wait till 18 weeks. It's up to you if you want to reschedule personal I would
- At my level II ultrasound I was told that a hospital level II grade ultrasound machine with a transvaginal (aka dildo cam) ultrasound would be able to tell sex at a 12 week session. I was 12 weeks at the time and I was only asking to tease the tech so I wasn't expecting that response. He asked if I wanted a transvaginal scan to check and I said no. Yuck. I didn't need to know the sex that early! LOL! The baby books say that by 12 weeks sex is observable on a fetus if they were outside the womb. It is just a matter of having a clear enough US machine (4D is not a better picture than a level II) and having baby in the right position.
- "Gender" means "masculine" or "feminine", not male or female. You'll have to wait until the child is at least 3 or so, to see the feminine or masculine traits. OH, you mean the SEX of your child? 15 weeks would be more sure.
- i think u shouldn't do 4D u/s till u're bout 20weeks +, besides the fact that they might not be able to tell u the gender yet (which IS possible they will, but mostly likely not yet), but also after 20 weeks the baby will be more active and u'll be able to capture the baby moving. also during that time most babies start sucking on their thumb already, so it'd be a very cute thing to catch on 4D. this way the u/s will be more worth it since u'll be able to see ur baby better and all the movements.
- Just be careful, I was reading about this the other day, because I would like to get one done too and I heard most will only do the 2d and then towards the end show you 3d for like a second! I was thinking, why would I pay that for a 2D scan I get don't at the Dr's anyways. So just be careful that they don't try to make you think you are getting a 3D just to have them do 2D. The reason they say 3D scans are not good till later when the baby is bigger, because they cant get images to bounce off them, because they are small and there is not enough density.
