3D - 2

I'm having a 3D ultrasound done, but am now worried about how it will affect the baby?

The 3D ultrasound place has experienced technicians, but now I'm reading all this stuff about the ultrasound possibly harming the baby. My doctor won't do an ultrasound without it being medically necessary so I wanted to do the 3D thing just for my peace of mind. Now, there is no peace of mind. I'm still worrying. How do you other women feel about the 3D ultrasounds and have you had one???

  1. My neice had a 3D ultrasound done and nothing happened to the baby. She came out perfectly normal. Pretty much all it is doing is showing you what your baby looks like.
  2. I have had one with each of my kids. I dont feel like it is harming them because all of them are fine. Here's my boy! http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd189/neosnbullies/babymiguel3D.jpg
  3. Ultrasounds do NOT harm your child.
  4. Ultrasound is just sound waves and is the most common pregnancy procedure out there. I'm sure it is perfectly safe, almost everyone pregnant woman gets one and they have been used for years; if there was a problem it would have been widely publicized by now!
  5. A 3D u/s isn't much different than your normal ultrasound. My doctor has given me several. I was high risk so I had a lot of them early on and now the baby is cranky and won't let us get a heartbeat on doppler so he has to do one to see her heartbeat. There used to be thoughts that they were dangerous but its sound waves, which we are exposed to all the time, and there isn't any medical proof that they are harmful. I wouldn't worry about it, and enjoy the experience, because I didn't get to have one.
  6. Its Wonderful to see your babies features! You have to do it! its something you will have forever. There haven really been any conclusive reports saying that it hurts the baby. Its Just Like a normal ultrasound, just more high tech. Enjoy this time in you pregnancy hun! I promise it will be surreal to see your baby up on that monitor, and see that baby has moms nose or lips.. Its really a great feeling.
  7. I did my research on the same subject and came to the conclusion that I don't want one...I want my baby to be healthy and we have had two ultrasounds and she is doing great...so I opted out of a 3d/4d.
  8. I just had them done a couple of weeks ago. They are awesome. You can see all their features. It's just amazing. I don't know what the big deal is with the ultrasounds. I live in Germany, and we have one every visit. If I go in for a headache, I get an ultrasound. I can't imagine sound waves would really be able to hurt a baby, but I'm no scientist. I'll tell you what though, I really do like to see my baby at least once a month though to make sure everything is ok. Plus it is nice to be able to send the pictures to my family in the states, and my husband in Iraq. If it was an option to get them done every week, I would probably do it.
  9. never herd of it being a danger, its using the same stuff hospitals use so i dunno y it wud b any diff
  10. i just had one done on Saturday and it was the most amazing feeling seeing my baby move around inside me. i HIGHLY recommend it. if it was harmful to the baby they wouldnt offer it.. don't worry about it.
