3D - 2

Has anyone had a 3d ultra sound at 16wks with false gender determination?

I am 16 weeks 3 days, I have an apt. tomorrow at the 3d ultrasound place for gender determination. I was wondering if anyone has had one this early or even later that was told the wrong gender? I also have been told by other 3d image places that gender cannot be determined before 18weeks

  1. they will not mess up...by that time, the fetus either has a penis, or she doesnt.
  2. Not personally but a co worker of my sisters was told that it was a boy throughout her entire pregnancy and then she had a girl. Even the 3d ones are not 100% accurate.
  3. i just went to do the gender determination , and iw as told they dont do 3d until atleast 24 weeks .....i didnt want that anyways but i got 2d and i can see perrrrfectly it was a boy at 20 weeks
  4. I know quite a few people who have. Wait til about 20 weeks =)
  5. if they are unsure they will tell you so , so as to avoid telling you the wrong gender. when they show you the screen make sure you get a good look for yourself ( boys are easiest to determine! i found out today we're having another boy and it was very obvious :) some places will ask you to sign a waver stating that if they tell you the wrong gender they will not be held accountable many places the technician will not tell you the gender but rather send of his/her conclusions to your dr. so that they can tell you. the key is to get them to show you and prove it to you. i have never been told the wrong gender as it was easy to see. both boys let it all hang out :)
  6. with all of my u/s they were right but last year my cousin had an u/s and they told her she was having a girl, she had one more u/s in her pregnancy and they said a girl....well out came a baby boy! She was happy cause she orginally wanted a boy to begin with but everything she had for the baby was in pink including her stroller/carseat. Her mother ended up having to go out and return everything before she came home from the hospital.
  7. Don't worry so much! Make sure you can see the screen and you will be able to see if it a boy or a girl. I promise, if they can find it, it's a clear image. Congrats and good luck!
  8. I had an ultrasound at 16 weeks and 3 days and the tech said that her guess was that it was a girl but that it also might be too early to tell for sure. She said that at that point things are still small so she wouldn't be surprised if I came back later and it was a boy. I go back Thursday and I'll be 18 weeks so we'll see if she was right the first time. That was also just a regular ultrasound not one of the nifty ones so maybe that accounts for something. Either way my family is still taking her "guess" as a "it's a girl". Good luck and let us know what you find out!!!
  9. Nope, at 15 weeks they found out my lil bean was a girl. Didn't fully trust it until it got confirmed at 17, 18, & 21 weeks. She's still a girl = ) I'd say they are pretty darn accurate but don't only rely on it this early. 20 weeks it's more accurate. GL
  10. Where I got mine done, they won't do it until after 26 weeks. From what I hear though, if they are unsure they just won't tell you and will give you the chance to come back later for free to try again. Even with a "normal" 2D ultrasound 16 weeks can be a little early to determine gender, so I would guess that until later on I wouldn't base anything on what they say. Just my opinion though.
  11. I am having my 3d/4d ultrasound done at 17 weeks. She told me that I would definitely be able to tell on a 3d scan, because well... it's like a little statue of baby on the screen and you cannot mistake that. 2d scans are the ones that are harder to read. I mean, it's flat and you could easily get the umbilicord confused for a boy or something. I think you should be able to find out! Good luck.
  12. Well im going on Wednesday and I'll be 15 weeks 4 days for a 3D ultrasound..they said if they can't tell for any reason then they will set up another appointment free of charge :) So i'm praying i'll be able to find out :)
