Anyone had a 3d ultra sound? What do you think of them?

Is getting a 3d ultra sound worth it..can you see much more than a regular ultra sound? and how far should you be when you get one

  1. I havent had one but i am going to, i have seen heaps of 3d utltraounds and you can see heaps more, you can actually see what the face looks like and everything. I am going to wait til at least 20 -25 weeks cause theres not much too see really before that. You should google it and have a look at the pictures to make your decision if you want to have one done or not. Good luck
  2. I didn't get one but my sister in law did and it shows a LOT more, you can actually see features on the baby, I've heard you aren't supposed to get them done before 34 weeks because there's not enough baby fat and the baby will look odd and not cute and you'll get really freaked out, that's what the ultrasound tech told her anyway. If I ever have another one I will definatley invest in one. I think it's worth it.
  3. Yes, the detail is wonderful, I have had one with my last two pregnancies.
  4. To be honest I have heard (from more than 4 sources) that its weird and scary. The baby usually looks deformed, and in many ases some of the people have freaked out thinking their baby had abnormalities. I dont know if it shows more, I have never had one however I am just telling you what I have heard :). But if you think it would be fun then go for it, it wont hurt. Maybe it would make you feel more attached to be baby beause you can see more a baby than a figure...ya know? Well hope whatever you decide have fun and congrats!
  5. yeah. they are actually really neat! you can see a whole lot more detail on the face and such its amazing! i would say wait until about 25-27 weeks.
  6. it is really cool. in the waiting room at my doctors office they showed a 3d ultrasound and then an after picture from when the baby was born. and they looked exactly the same! if you don't mind ruining the surprise, i say do it! I would wait until about 7 1/2 - 8 months when the baby is almost fully developed, because the ones from when they are really under developed really creep me out! congrats!
  7. oh my goodness it was wonderful! you see so much more... facial features and expressions... it is beautiful.. you can see the baby flipping and moving or sleeping... usually you want to be at least 20 weeks but the baby will be skinny [not alien-like and abnormal, just really skinny]... I think most people get it at around 30 weeks because the baby is not as skinny can still move around freely and get a good pic.. it s beautiful and well worth the money... look up 3d/4d ultrasounds online to see some pictures.... with my first I got it at 18[skinny with perfect fingers and toes] and 30 weeks [looked like he did at birth] for my second I got one at 23 weeks [my mom said looked like me when i was born at 32 weeks] I plan to get another one around 32 weeks... so worth it
  8. I haven't had one because I could never afford one, but I've seen pictures and they are so amazing. I think it is so worth it because you can see almost every detail instead of being stuck with this black and white picture that looks like the pictures that a psychologist uses and you have to try and interpret what all the shapes mean! But, I've also heard that the regular ultrasound done late in pregnancy looks almost like a 3d, but I don't think you'd want to wait that long to get an ultrasound. I'm not sure how far along you should be when you get one, but good luck! If you get one, repost it so we can all see!!! (if you want).
  9. Yes i had one and it was awesome. My dr will not do them til 30 weeks though but the 3D pic really looked like my son when he was born...it was awesome!! I would definatly say wait til 28-30weeks to get a good pic and go for it!! Good Luck
