does going from 11,500 to 11,700 3d mark 06 score sound about right with these 2 cards?

9800 gtx 11,500 9800 gtx + 11,700 200 point increase switching to a +

  1. Yeah that sounds about right. The difference between the cards is 60 MHz on the core clock and 90 MHz on the Shader clock. The GTX+ boasts lower temps and higher overclockability than the GTX, so I would OC the 9800 GTX+ to get some more points on 3DMark06. But that's why you don't switch from one card to a card so similiar to it. In the end, it's like paying an extra 200 for an overclocked 9800 GTX. To the other answerer: Your answer didn't really add much.. Just reworded mine. No beef though, just gets on my nerves when that happens.
  2. Yes, that's about right. That's not much of an upgrade. You should be a little more careful when upgrading your GPU. Usually, unless you are changing to a newer series (like going from Geforce 9 to GT200) the performance gap is very small. In your case you basically bought an overclocked version of the same card. You would have been much better off to get the new GTX 260 216 or Radeon 4870.
