How about a little help?

I'm looking for a software program that allows you to do 3D modeling with human characters. I want to be able to start from scratch and make a custom character image, rather than use a bunch of pre-made parts. I want to be able to download it to the computer and get it for free, not download the free software, then pay for other features. Any suggestions?

1. just bite the bullet purchase a cheaper older version of Maya from eBay at least if you learn the application properly you'll be able to do some amazing stuff and you'll have a very sought after skill
