3D - 2

Is it easy for them to tell the baby's sex on a 3D/4D ultrasound?

I called the local imaging place and asked the earliest they can tell the baby's sex on their ultrasounds. They said any time past 15 weeks. I'll be 15 weeks 2 days when I go this wednesday. It'll be a 30 minute scan. Do you think in 30 minutes they'll be able to get the baby to cooperate? Is it easier to tell the gender in 4d as opposed to 2d?

  1. It is usually easier from 16 weeks. However 4D scans are clearer. It all depends on how the baby is laying at the time. Good luck.
  2. Oh yes very easy. Your results are more likely to be accurate with a 3D at this point in your pregnancy then with a 2D. That said I found out this baby was a boy at 13w5d with a 2D ultrasound and I've had 7 more ultrasounds since that all say boy.
  3. 15 wks is a little early for a 4d ultrasound, and they are expensive. If your insurance isn't paying for it, I'd wait until you're 25-30 weeks so that the baby will be fully formed and more picturesque. Although at 15 weeks, the gender still might be a little unclear... But yes, it is easier to tell the gender in 4d -- it's like taking a snapshot of the baby.
  4. Its def easier on a 3d/4d ultrasound. The picture are soo clear. Sometime they come in color too which is real cool. As for your baby cooperating lol, sometimes the legs may be crossed but more than likely they will be able to tell.. good luck and congrats : ]
  5. As long as the baby cooperates, either scan should be able to give you an accurate reading. Also, at 15 weeks the baby will look more skeletal than normal. It is hard to distinguish parts on the 3D sometimes. I went at 19 weeks and we could barely pick out the eyes and nose! I really want to go at 32 weeks and see our little girl developed then!
  6. When I had my 3D scan done, I was already 32 weeks, and I Had twins so they were so crowded in there we couldnt see much of anything. We did ask our tech if he could tell us the sex of the babies to make sure 100% to what we were told before, and he said since he's not a doctor, and does not work for our doctor, he can't tell us that. Hopefully you're able to be told, and to see what you're having. Its so much fun! Congrats!!
  7. it is very much easier in 3d or 4d because its like looking straight at the baby, its not so cloudy. most of the time they can tell the sex of the baby just fine in a 2d scan also though. a 30 min scan should be enough to tell. the baby will move around a lot in that time.
  8. Oh yes! The 3D imaging is so clear. We didn't do it until later in the pregnancy, but it was quite obvious to EVERYONE who looked at the pics that we were having a little girl. You could also see her hair and other little details. They are really neat! I'd wait a few more weeks though just so you don't have to repeat. 20 weeks there'd be no question!
  9. i had a 2d scan at 20 weeks pregnant and u couldnt miss wot sex the baby was lol, so to be sure i went for a 3d at 26 weeks and the 2d was right, i was pregnant with a gorgeous wee boy goodluck and congrats xx
  10. I became pregnant on May 17th and had the regular ultrasound on Sept 11th. You can see on the pictures, it was positively a BOY!! Of course, it depends on the way the baby is laying also. But with a 30 minute ultrasound, the tech can maneuver the baby to move in the right way to give a positive view of the sex organs.
