Does anyone know why a CD PLAYER Stereo System might have a 'MULTI-CARD READER???

I am seeing into purchasing a micro stereo system CD PLAYER thats comes with a USB PORT, IS MP-3 COMPATIBLE and also has a CARD READER, WHY? I think i know what a card reader is, I have one on my laptop and printer which i use to extract photos from my cameras memory stick...but I am confused as to why a cd player may require one- does it have other purposes> any help would be appreciated

1. It can play music stored on the memory card and often can rip music to the card. I have a Sony system which has a memory stick slot. I can play music from the memory stick and can rip music from CD to the memory stick.
2. For the mp3's. You can store mp3's on the card (maybe even record from the radio to it) and play on the unit.
