Which is a good program for beginners to use to do real-life 3D renderings? I''m currently using SketchUp.?

I can't decide which one is easier to pick up. I just need something simple that I can create full-colored, life-like 3D images. Animations is not required but would be nice. Does anyone have any good suggestions? And of course hopefully not too expensive programs.
