Help with creating 3D landscape?
I was thinking of getting into software design/renderings, so I could generate 3D "worlds". I wanted to experiment with outdoor cells or whatever, similar to Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (But not nearly as detailed!). But it's a poor example; I was thinking something more along the lines of the environments in Cabella's hunting safari-style software, since that's almost exactly what I want to do (sans hunting). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

- Hi, here are a few examples of what you can do: 1. You can model the landscape in 3DS Max using the following tutorial: http://www.delta3d.org/article.php?story=2005070111291094&topic=tutorials Of course this functionality exists in other 3D software packages (Maya, Lightwave, XSI, Blender) as well. 2. Or you can use a lanscape generator such as Terragen(free), Bryce, Vue Esprit and others: http://www.planetside.co.uk/gallery/f/tg09 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terragen http://nemesis.thewavelength.net/index.php?c=2 http://www.bundysoft.com/L3DT/ http://www.e-onsoftware.com/products/vue/vue_6_esprit/ http://www.e-onsoftware.com/ http://www.creative-3d.net/3DGallery.cfm?Software=Vue%20d%27esprit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bryce_5 http://www.daz3d.com/i.x/software/bryce/-/
