what's the different between IMAX 2D and normal movies?

i've seen the Imax2d label beside a film title..i know about imax 3d..but i didnt know how is imax2d different than normal movies

1. The movie screen size. IMAX 2D screens take up an entire wall, compared to the size of a regular movie screen. No matter where you sit in an IMAX theater, you're going to have that uncomfortable feeling of having to look up at the screen.
