Why isn't there any Cartoon or Anime Movies in Theaters, but only on tv and on dvd?

I remember when I was a kid in the 90s there used to be a bunch of disney movies and other cartoons and now the only t hing they still have is 3D animation. Why do they don't have anime and cartoon movies in theaters but only have it on tv channels and dvds? And do you think they should do that?

1. There have been a lot of cartoons in theaters, I don't know what you're talking about.
2. Well, Probably due to the fact that most animations and movies take millions of dollars to make, it's just cheaper to make them DVD and TV Only.
3. Anime isn't as popular in the U.S. as it in in Japan and in other countries. When I visit Mexico, they have anime movie in the theatres like the Saint Seiya movies and some Dragon Ball Z movies made it to the big screen in Mexico. The few I can remember that came out in the U.S. were Akira, Cowboy Beebop, that one that was Spirited or some thing like that.
