What's the difference between an extrusion and a protrusion?

I'm working with Pro/E, a type of CAD, 3D modeling software. So, what's da diff?? Got any examples?

  1. Extrusion pushes outward. Protrusion inward.
  2. Hi. An extrusion is a form that is made by passing through an opening with the same shape as the desired cross-section of the product. A protrusion is a raised area on a product.
