  1. Wow talk about an open ended question. Not sure where to start really so I'll just brainstorm! You're going to need to learn a whole boatload of skills for this one. It's a long project too! Also your friends are going to have to dedicate a lot of time to 3d modelling or spriting in order to populate the game with characters and buildings and all the other little things you don't usually take much notice of in these games Now, I don't mean to be cruel, but if you've not written a game before this will be impossible for your first project. You need to at the very least have written some basic space invaders clone or something to have any idea what it's like to try and finish a project. If none of that has put you off (and I'm guessing it hasn't) you first need to research your tools. I've not had any experience with game makers like eclipse. Usually engines like that have restrictions that can become frustrating. Personally I prefer the control that programming it yourself can give. Model packs are great but you'll find that they don't always match up with each other giving the game an unbalanced feel. Places that spring to mind are "TurboSquid" and especially "Arteria gaming" I hope that helps a bit - however this is not the best place to ask for advice on this matter. I notice that the eclipse site has a forum, perhaps you'd get some more detailed answers there?
