3D - 2

Thinking about buying a macbook?

I intend to buy myself a macbook and i would like an opinion about the models. I intend to upgrade to 4GB RAM and use the computer primarily for 3D animation renderings and web surfing. 1) The entry level (white plastic shell) is basically the same as the lower end aluminum body. The only difference is the DDR3 RAM on the aluminum vs DDR2 on the plastic. How much of a speed difference would this be? 2) What would be the difference in speed between the 2.0 GHZ processor and the 2.4?

  1. If you're going to be using the laptop for 3d rendering, don't get the macbook, get the macbook pro or a normal laptop with a better graphics card. The macbook only has integrated nvidia graphics card (9400m) that won't really suffice for rendering/gaming. You won't notice a speed difference with the different types of ram. Depending on what you're going to be doing - surfing the web; no difference in speed - rendering; a small increase.
