Is 3ds max only for 3d animation or also for video editing?

Can it be used for editing simple movies like the thing that movie maker does or is it just used for creating 3d models and animating them?

1. 3ds Max is not a video editor, it is a 3d environment program. You can create special effects, composite them to the video, create 3d creatures and all that stuff but you can't do video editing. By the way: video editing is slicing and splicing then arrangement of clips not adding special effects
2. 3ds Max includes the "video post", which is an extremely basic video editor that allows compositing, adding transitions and such.
