eye infection after wearing 3D glasses at AMC theater?

I've got an eye infection since I watched Monsters vs. Aliens with 3D glasses on at AMC theater. They should've sterilized their glasses before handing them out. Should I sue them? If so, where should I start?

  1. It would be very hard to prove that you got the infection from those glasses. If you got conjunctivitis, that is so contagious that you could have picked it up anywhere. Touched something that someone touched who had just rubbed their infected eye. If you got an infection such as iritis, that would not be due to 3D glasses. So first, it depends on the type of infection, then if it is a highly contagious one, it will be next to impossible to prove where you got it.
  2. You would have a hard time proving that was the source of your condition. On a more human note- don't we all know that when we share such items we run the risk of spreading infections, illness, viruses, etc.? It's an eye infection that you don't even know was caused by their glasses.
  3. Legally, you have to prove that the glasses were the source of infection. Did they cause you any permanent or prolonged damage or disability or is it just a case of conjunctivitis? If the answer is no, it did not then legally and morally you do not have a case. FYI- People like you are why my insurance premiums are so high.
  4. I work at AMC Century City 15 and we use the same glasses for IMAX 3D and we use a 3step hot water machine wash and we air dry with a air compressor. I believe all AMC's with the reusable IMAX glasses use this same process. There's a wash phase, a sanitize phase and a drying agent (similar to Jet Dry).
  5. The theaters in my city wash the glasses in between each show. I've seen them take the washing rakes with the glasses to the kitchen and then a few minutes later bring them back for the next showing.
