Does the NVIDIA Geforce 3D Vision kit need a 3D monitor?

I thought any Tv or Monitor could play 3D images but why does it seem you need a samsung sync master or some other tv / monitor which says it can play 3D to play using this piece of equipment.

1. The problem is that your screen needs to be capable of switching screens 120 times per second. Ok so why is that a problem, well unfortunately most LCD screens only switch at a maximum of 100 times per second.
